- The Galley or the dining hall is quite spacious and the food is also good on an average day.

- Certain food items are limited for each student so cannot always eat with the heart content
- It is prohibited to bring food items inside the college campus so we can hardly taste anything outside the college kitchen
- Cadets are allowed shore leave only once a week that too only for few hours
Course Curriculum Overview
The college follows Indian Maritime University (IMU) course curriculum. Both theory subjects and practical subjects are included every semester. Reading in book and then working on the same thing with your own hand truly increases your knowledge and that's what is done here. Semester exams are held every six months and for each semester we have 2 cycle tests of 20marks and practical exams on the scheduled date. They invest a lot of time in workshop practical teachings and they're constantly improving the equipments
Placement Experience
From 3year or 5th semester for engineering cadets and 2year or 4th semester for Bsc Cadets. All the major and famous shipping companies visit our campus from time to time to take interviews and hire cadets. Companies namely MOLTA, MOLMI, FLEET , EASTAWAY, VR MARITIME, d'AMICO , MSC , MAERSK, PIL etc etc and many more reputed companies. The lowest they get paid depends on the company however lowest can be 350$/mo and the highest for a cadet can be 900$/mo. Almost 80-90% of the cadets gets placed every year. Our batch got a 100% campus placement record. I got my job through campus placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees stays same every year. However last year they installed central cooling system for the whole Academic Block therefore cadets study in air conditioned classes so they've slightly increased the fees last year. The college provide a money reward to high hs scoring cadets and in the last semester cadets get few awards namely Best All Rounder, Best Academic and certificates for the committee heads from that batch of cadets. I was the Head of Magazine and Library Committee. There are around 7-8 committee in the college that have certain important roles around the campus
Campus Life
Every year college organises a annual fest where cadets from different marine colleges also join us in a 3days long fest. Other than that we have guest visit in our campus very frequently so we are having some event in the auditorium quite often. Also we celebrate major holidays like independence day , ganesh chaturthi etc etc. Maintaining discipline we can have all the freedom inside the campus during an event. We have swimming pool, gym table tennis court, carrom indoor rowing and also a big ground for fullfill all our sport and fitness desires. There are also sport events held inside college and also they participate in the events from other colleges. Other than that we have some committees run by the cadets like Galley, Sports, Magazine and Library, Band committee, External affairs etc
Hostel Facilities
Merchant Navy is residential course so you have stay inside the campus hostel. Each room has 4 cadets. There are 2 bunk beds , a study table big enough to accommodate 3 people studying, two separate rooms for shower and lavatory, two basin two mirrors and 4 cupboards. The food in the galley is quite average on a daily basis however the menu changes everyday. On special occasions, some special items are made. However dining times are very strict and no one will get food after the alloted time.
Admission
The eligibility criteria for the course in this college is that you have to get an average of 60% or more in PCM (physics, chemistry, maths), you have take a medical test under a dg approved doctor and clear all the criterias for selection. You all have to qualify in IMUCET exam that held every year. All the details regarding admission are provided in their website and also you can in the admin office for the details.
Faculty
There are few different types of faculties. Marine faculties who teaches the main and marine subjects, they're generally high rank officers and they stay in the campus so getting in touch with them is not very difficult. Visiting faculties come on a daily basis to teach general subjects and workshop instructors teach us practical skills and knowledge in our extensive workshops. Teacher-Student interaction is very normal and easy here. You just have to have the courage to open your mouth. Everyone is truly dedicated to help and teach the cadets.
