- The teaching curriculum was on expected, not as compared to other private colleges, where there is somewhere or the other no studies happening. They have a very strict rule of marking scheme as well.
- Infrastructure was okay because it is a government college and due to its low fees as compared to others, the college building, libraries and other parts of college is still in work in progress.
- The opportunity to learn and engage in various societies was helpful as it helped in interacting various students from various backgrounds, and knowing the skills necessary for future managerial skills for working in the coporate.
Dislikes
- Also, some of the department's teachers were very lazy in conducting of classes, and regular absenteeism was seen as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
I always decided to pursue commerce during my school time, so adding BCom as my bachelor's degree, I decided to pursue it at DU itself. The curriculum of this degree was essential as I wanted to pursue my higher qualifications in a management program, so to enable me to make a better future manager in the corporation, a mixture of theoretical as well as practical approaches was necessary for this. It prepares me to know the practical world by working or doing internships in companies. I can tell that during my 3 year course, the college should have encouraged certain visits to big offices in the cyber city and Noida, to show the students the practical scenario. The timing for my exam was 3 hours during the afternoon, and the paper was quite moderate, except for some subjects like finance and accounting where the level of the paper was difficult.
Fees and Financial Aid
The overall total tuition fees for my college was approximately 45000 for 3 years. Other, than this, there used to be the examination fees of around 500 per semester. There were hardly any hikes in respect of fees during my term. There were some scholarship schemes for the underprivileged and quota students like the SC-STs, etc. There were relaxations in terms of examination fees and some subsidies were given in the form of student loans. From the end of 2nd year itself, lots of employment opportunities were available, in the form of placements, internships, workshops, etc. The average placement at the end of my term was 3.8 LPA, whereas for the internships, it was 15,000/- per month.
Campus Life
The overall college experience was okay since till our 4th semester, everything was in online mode, and we were not able to enjoy college life, so basically our life started at the end of 4th semester. There were many annual fests like RUDRA, TECHNICIAN, ANUUGOONJ, CHEMISTRIAAN, and many more. These were held monthly. The range and accessibility of books and journals were good, except for some of the publishers where it was not possible to see. No technological provisions were there in the classroom, everything was on board. Sports ranging from basketball, cricket, football, kho-kho, etc were there on the college campus.
Admission
The eligibility during my admission was either in the form of merit basis of our board exams or in the form of the DU-JAT entrance exam. The application form was available on the DU portal website along with the application fees stated on it. The due dates were also mentioned. The timing for the entrance was 2 hours, mainly including subjects like verbal ability, maths, logical reasoning. The paper pattern was of MCQ basis with a +2 marks on correct, and -0.25 on being negative.
Faculty
The effectiveness and learning spirit of faculty members were quite good. The faculty-to-student ratio was 5:80. So, it was quite a huge number of students sitting in a single classroom, and still a lot of noises were going around in the class. The learning experience was good as some of the teachers were quite helpful in clearing the doubts, while some were not. They used to give credit points for the submission of projects, group activities, and vivas. I interacted with a few subject teachers for my personal doubts for not able to understand a specific topic.
