Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

History has always excited me and therefore I took this course. Also apart from history, our course teaches us literature. Economics is also a part of our curriculum, so we get an overall development. Exams are held two times each in every single semester as that's standard practice for the colleges that come under DU. I remember our professor sayinf to us that History is the best discipline across all the courses available. It teaches us how to critically analyze know and apply so that we can provide the coming generations with what's true. It is not about what is right, but learning how to make it right.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Placements at Hansraj are awesome as historians are in huge demand in various industries such as media and restoration companies. Many media houses hire students from our college and the placement percentage has been consistent between 50 to 60 percent. Average salaries offered are in the range of 4 lakhs per annum for freshers.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hansraj is one of the costliest colleges at DU and still, the fees are just 23 thousand a year. My entire cost will be close to 70 thousand and in that too there are numerous scholarships available. Students who come from sprots qutoa get their fees waived and likewise, students from EWS Quto or PWD quota too get a lot of fee waivers.

Campus Life

5

I will say I have had the best experience of my life till now after getting into this college. The exposure is well and good, you get to see diversity in college from every corner of the country. Students with different interests and culture in one place. The college is a hustle and bustle always, every other eexuverant experienced and outstanding individuals with high stature and high reaagard in concern with academicsa and other spheres visit the college. Scties like Nisths, Hartima, Uddtan , plancement cell etc. invite very respectable dignatries such as Rajnath Singh, S. Jaishankar and IAS , IPS officers. Fest season in college is amazing experience where all the students just focus on single task. It is a place not only temple of knowleghe but also a stadium for the nest Dhoni, astage fot the next SRK, a platform for the netxt Birju Maharj and Begum Akhtar. The infrastructur is very developed, from canteen to toilets every corner of college is well maintained.

Admission

One needs to sit for the CUET UG examination administered by the NTA. 40 questions to do in 45 minutes out of altogether 50 questions each from each subject. The general cut-off is 762\800that on can get into Hansraj College in history Hons course. Other categories are for sure SCs\STs\OBCs and there are also ECA and sports students who are recruited by the DU criteria according to their test on their fields of Dancing, Singing, painting, and other extracurricular activities. Overall admission to Hansraj College is not that easy, after all, it is one of the top colleges in the country the competition is pretty high. One needs to give his best in CUET exams. The best part is every official work is digitalised so they do not need to be present physically.

Faculty

4.5

I am proud of our faculty, they are the best in the country. I studied in a tiny town but when i got admission to Hansraj I just got to know how good their teaching style is. our faculty is always on time and greets us with a smile. They are always ready to entertain our doubts. They have taught me how to write answers and how to read. They are helpful not just in our course but also in other matters of life. They complete their course on time.

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option
