Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I am in history dept, so I found the curriculum pretty good for history enthusiasts, it is well framed by the department professors. I believe the curriculum prepares us for real-world application in pretty good manner it teaches us innovative ideas which cannot be learn from reading books. But still there is scope for improvement, such as sometimes I felt syllabus is quite outdated so it needs some upgradation. Frequency and timing of exams are well planned which do not lad the student with burden. It makes the process less hectic. The difficulty level varies from paper to paper and also professor to professor, so sometimes it is possible that one may get easy paper but sometimes difficult too.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

Availabilty of internships opportunities are varing from course to course at some prime courses such as MSW, BSW, BDS, Btech etc, internship opportunities are great with good stipend however in BA, BSc it is not good enough.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees structure of Jamia Millia Islamia is very economical, fee of BA courses are around 6700-7200 only, which is very less as compare to any other university right now. Also professional courses fee are quite nominal here. Fee hikes are not very often, and that too very low. Complete cost of my education is not more than 50000 including hostels too. There are various scholarship available for students, from 1000 rs to several thousands. They are based on merit list, also many more are for minorities, women, economically depressed section. Some of them are JMI Alumni Association Scholarship, APJ Abdul Kalam scholarships etc. One can get various responsibilities here, such as event organiser and society head however chances of getting stipend is very less

Campus Life

4

One of the major thing which I dislike here is that, we dont have big fests, we have some, but most of them are petty in nature. However a fest name Zephyr is quite good, also Muziris fest is quite grand. They are generally held in March-April. Accessibility and range of books in library is so good, there are so many library at the campus also most of the departments also own their own library. Technological provisions in classrooms are not good enough here, specially in Humanities courses. ECA activities are also very less at campus, however it is growing fast but still needs improvements. Sports facilities are amazing here having world class facilities, stadium etc. There are many student run groups clubs here such as malyali fraternity group named as Smriti, many NGOs too, organisation like Enactus, 180 degree, ecell, TEDx. They are impacting student life by provinding them unprecendented exposure.

Hostel Facilities

5

There are 4 types of rooms at hostel, first is dormitories, second is 4 bed, third is 3 bed and forth is single bed, however single bed rooms are only given to PhD scholars. An almirah, fan, study table, and bed is provided in each room, separate for each room member. Meal quality varies from hostel to hostel, at some hostel it is good but at some needs improvement. Menu is also well diversed. Registration process occurs after admission, they ask for some criteria such as earlier scores, distance of you home from Jamia and take interview. It is highly affordable for students. If one wants a rented room or PG , then Batla House, Shaheen Bagh, Zakir Nagar, Julena provides great options. If budget is good one can see PG in Kalkaji, New Friends Colony and Govindpuri too.

Admission

For UG courses, admission are taken place from two methods, for some courses by considering CUET scores and for most of the courses Jamia conducts its own examinations. The eligibility criteria for UG is passing 12th from any recognised board. Application forms can be found at Jamia's examination website which is known as jmicoe.in, the application fee is around 400 rs. Release of application form generally occurs in February, it varies from course to course, so cannot be ascertained. The frequency of exams is good, not very less also not very high, which gives students to pay attention to some other activities too. Difficulty level also varies from paper to paper. Here SC-ST-OBC reservations are not valid, here reservations are given in the criteria like General Muslim, Muslim Women, J&K, Kashmiri migrants etc. Improvement in the admission process can be done such as by having the entire admission process online and conducting entrance exams at more centres.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty to student ratio is around 20:1 which is way better than national average, it makes things easier for both student as well as professors. Faculty members are generally alumni of most prestigious universities such as JNU, AMU, DU etc, so their experience can be seen in their teaching methods very well. Faculty also guides well to students for their further studies and career opportunities. Students can easily interact with teachers, Fridays are generally reserved for such interactions. Professors uses various methods to teach students inclunding study tours too.

Other Applied Colleges

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

I will rate the course at Delhi Univeristy 8 out of 10. As a student, I'm receiving offline study materials via the post, however, you have to pay around 500 rupees for the books and notes when filling the fees every year.

This course curriculum includes learning across 2 feilds like i have economics and maths and later we can continue 4th year to get hons degree . So its really gives time for a person to test himself or herself about which field to go on for as specialization. The difficulty level for this course is easy to moderate.
