- The area is very remote it is not easy to get things urgently
- The weather is the worse especially in summers due to humidity and 42 degrees heat
- There can be more opportunities for core especially corporate companies who offer placements and not just research
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is still developing in a lot of aspects. Some courses are pretty good for the real world while some are just boring and useless. The teaching methods are advanced and application based with labs for each subject. Exams are twice per semester with class tests in between depending upon the professor.
Internships Opportunities
Around 150 companies visited including Bain, BCG, McKinsey Lek for consulting roles. And Microsoft google Meta Adobe Apple Goldman Sachs Optiver JP Morgan Chase and Co. DE Shaw Morgan Stanley etc for technical roles. The stipend was 70000 average with core companies like TCS research offering internships in core.
Placement Experience
You are eligible for placement in your final year. Around 500 companies visit each year including Microsoft ,Google, Adobe, Meta, Apple, Goldman Sachs JPMC etc . The highest placement was 2cr INR which was given by Optiver. Placement percentage is well above 90% for B.Tech students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Increase in fees totally depends on government policies. The tution fee is 100000 per semester and Hostel fee is 25000 per semester which includes all the other charges such as gymkhana and lab fee examination fee etc. A lot of scholarship are available for example Merit cum means, Income scholarship etc. Stipends are usually given to Interna and Mtech students.
Campus Life
We have spring fest the cultural fest, kshitij the techno management fest and shaurya the sports fest. All the books you can think of are available in library. The classrooms are world class with AC and projectors and blackboard with other facilities. The sports facilities are awesome with dedicated stadium for Athletics, cricket, basketball, football, hockey squash, badminton, etc. There are more than 50 student run societies and clubs for social and cultural and technology activities
Hostel Facilities
Single room is given with very basic facilities. The mess is good with a diverse menu for veg and non veg. The registration is compulsory. RP hall is the best hall for accommodation. The hostels are very outdated and due for renewation.
Admission
JEE advance clearance is needed. The form is available on the website of Joint entrance exam along with all the instructions. It is held once a year and you need to clear JEE mains to qualify for this exam. The system is pretty good at filtering talent
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio ranges from 1:20 to 1:200 depending upon the course you take. The faculties are very renowned in their own fields and are PHD from foreign universities like MIT Harvard NYU etc. The interaction is very easy and you can always ask professor for time and projects to learn more about their field.
