Dislikes
- High fess is an economic downside for most students as the scholarship offered is not for a huge number of students.
- State quota is something which needs to be abolished as soon as possible to ensure quality intake of students.
- The increase in number of students has lead to larger class sizes.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is very old and has adopted an effective and industry based curriculm over the years. The number of subjects have been moderated to give students enough time in co-curricular activities too. With mordern softwares being used to teach the students over internship chances increase too.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides summer internsips to 2nd and 3rd year students. Many companies visit the campus where in students can sit and appear for the interviews. The students receive ppo's and other palcement facilities too.
Placement Experience
More than 200 comapnies visit Thapar Institute for placements. Prominient companies like TATA, Maruti Suzuki, Addverb, Reliance India Limited, Apple too visit the campus. Mechanical Department has a high percentage placement lately the highest amonsgt all other branches.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees stuructre is semester wise, it is inclusive of Development Fees, Tution Fees, Hostel & Mess Fees and other charges. Scholarship is provided to top 20 students or so in each branch based on their CGPA. The college provides either full TA waiver or TA/2 fees waiver.
Campus Life
The college has an amazing vibe as there are fests being held every month or so. The students are part of the organizing committee of these fests being members of societies. The campus has more than 20 socities that students can join ranging from euntreprenuership societies to all terrain vehicle ones.
Hostel Facilities
First year students (males) are offered with 3 different choices of hostels in their first semester J,H,K Hostel. The rooms are fully furnished with both AC and Non AC facilities. We have 1S, 2S, 3S and 4S rooms available for freshers.
Admission
There are 3 modes of admission in Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. The first mode is through CBSE Board 12th Examinations or any other board, the second way is through JEE MAINS Percentile and the last way is through an college based entrance exam called "December Test".
Faculty
The faculty at thapar is very well experienced and are PHD holders from prestigious institutes like IIT's, BITS Pilani etc. They have quality papers in their profiles and have gathered tons of money in investment thus leading to an innovative environment in the campus.
