Life in Pondicherry University

There wasn't any specific reason and all for me to choose this particular course.But then again I did my graduation in social work...so I thought I might give this a try as well .So here I am, pursuing masters in social work in Pondicherry University.But as for me it was a big disappointment in some aspects. The department is not conducting any kinds of workshops and skill training. More theory focused. Which i think especially in social work it should be more skill based sessions, more outreach programs. More exposure shall be given than any other department.. because literally speaking you need those communication and social skills for this profession.So long story short If you want to have campus life you can come to Pondicherry University.it has good campus.But for higher education I'd say otherwise

For each semester there are seperate amounts to be paid as tuition fees. For the first semester it's about 20000 and for the second and fourth semester fees is around 3500. The tuition fees for the third semester is around 9700 rupees. There will be considerable increase in tuition fees for each year which is atmost 1000 rupees. For those who seek hostel facility has to pay mess fees and hostel accomodation fees. For each semester, the hostel accomodation fees is around 700 and the mess fees is for a day is 75 rupees which is paid as a sum for the whole semester. The caution deposits are included in both mess and semester fees which is returned when the student completes the course. Various scholarships provided by both Central and State governments are available for the students based on eligibility such as Egrants, Central sector scholarship etc. Campus placement is provided for the students of other departments such as MBA. But no campus placement for Social work students.

Pondicherry University has a vast campus having more than 1000 acres of area.The campus is beautiful with lush green trees and and gentle breeze. The Pondicherry University have various siting spaces to gather along with your friends, more than one grounds and facilities for sports and physical activity,games etc, gym facility for both men and women separately and peaceful atmosphere. Pondicherry University campus is beautiful during both day and night time as well.The University have reading room facility which can be used till morning 3AM and it opens at 7AM in the morning.So for students who want to focus on reading and studies can make use of that. The Pondichery University students also gets access to campus wifi network 24hrs. There is a health center, an ATM and post office inside Pondichery University campus.

Hostel facilities are pretty much good.Hostel accomodation and toilet facilities are pretty much good. Maybe it maybe in case of electricity, clean toilet facilities or in case of access to drinking water facility, hostel facility in Pondicherry University is good.

I am studying MSW in Pondicherry University. Any Degree graduates can apply for Masters in social work. Going to the admission process:- First you have to apply for Cuet PG exam. CUET(Common University Entrance Test). You can register either by yourself or can seek help from near by Akshaya Kendra. There are special reservation for OBC,SC and ST, and some seats are reserved for Pondicherry residents as well. There is some considerations for Kendriya vidyalaya students as well. For giving exams you can choose the nearest city or place where you feel like giving exam. It's always better give exam centres where you are sure to be able reach on the given time and place. Like nearby city , District , state etc. It is a completely personal opinion though. But there is a flaw in this. Last time while I gave exam centres I gave in three different places including my hometown itself, but I got exam centre in somewhere else..which was not either of the three places I registered for exam centre.
