Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate my course above average and a good course if you have interest in this course. B.A Geography Honors is among the most famous course as it offered only in 9 colleges of delhi university and Kirori Mal College has the highest rating of this particular course. Geography Honors has a holistic approach in its studies , it includes scientific, economic, cultural, social study of world and particular region. I would suggest some areas of improvement like having more practicality and conducting more surveys to get the practical knowledge of Geography and analyse its uses.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies like Wipro, Lg, Stucred, Parle, Zomato, etc have visited our college placement drives. I have been offered a job role as an marketing executive in a gurgaon based company named evepaper. Many projects are organised including marketing strategy and role of social media in bussiness.
Placement Experience
Generally there are placements for specific courses only ,like in Science courses and Commerce courses. Also there are placements at society level. Many socities in college organise placements drive in college to make students get opportunities of getting placements. On an average the placement in my college is 10 lakh rupees per year. Only 20 to 30 percent students get placements in my college. Personally i would continue the Geography course in Masters and prepare for government exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of B.A Geography Honors in Kirori Mal College is 12000 rupees per year and total fees of course for 3 year will be 36000 rupees. Other charges includes the semester wise examination charges that varies from 1200 to 1800 which is charged every semester. We can get scholarship also like in college level Kirori Mal provides scholarship to economically weaker students and has a interview procedure to avail this. At national level the National Scholarship for college students is being provided by Government Of India through National Scholarship Portal. I have been in 4 college societies and among it one society named Enactus jas provided me the internship for one month as a social media executive.
Campus Life
Every year Kirori Mal College organises its annual fest called renaissance in the month of march, april. Along with this there are many society fests in college which are held in february to arpil month. Also regularly there arw speakers session being held which include speakers of famous organisation or they are bureaucrats. Sports in Kirori Mal College is very active and annualy there is a sports meet held between various departments of courses. There are many student runned social groups like NSS national service scheme which is an ngo for poor children.
Admission
So for getting admission into Delhi University colleges we have to give CUET (Common University Entrance Test) which is conducted by NTA. So for my course B.A Geography Hons.we need to give exam of those subjects that we have studied in class 12 and minimum class 12 percentage was 60% in my course. We can find the application for entrance in Official NTA website or we can search Cuet ug exam in google. So the cuet was divided into 2 parts shift 1 amd shift 2 while shift 1 includes English language paper (language exam being compulsory) , two subjects that we I studies in class 12 and one was General Test (which was specific to selective courses) and shift 2 includes 4 test of subjects that we have studied in class 12. The difficulty level of all the paper was moderate and at last the result was normalised to bring the difficulty level at equal for all candidates. Area of improvement would be sticking to ncerts only and more focus on core topics.
