IIIT Kottayam in a nutshell

I chose cyber security because I have keen interest in ethical hacking, cryptography, cyber threats, ethical issues and these are included in this course. Curriculum covers required topics along with practical experience and industry workshops. Exams are conducted every one month and faculty derive the papers in a way resembling GATE exam.

Placements at IIIT Kottayam are on par with other IIIT's and NIT's. Students can start apearing for placements from 7th semester onwards. It is mandatory to submit a project in 4th year. Placement cell at IIIT K works along with Strong alumni network to bring companies to campus. HIghest package is 57 lpa and average is 13 lpa. Around 90% is placement percentage.

The total cost of education for 4 years of course is nearly 13.5 lakh including tuition, mess,hostel and other compulsory charges. No scholarship will be provided by college. But college tied up with banks to provide education loan without any land documents or without any collateral. One can work under respective faculty in any domain and gain experience along with some stipend but no official employment opportunities.

Campus has modern infrastructural facilities and ameneties. Apoorv is the annual fest and it is held in march and dj nights are held every sem. Library in college has many books and journals for students. Classrooms are equipped with modern facilities like projectors, nice sound system, comfortable seating arrangements. Many sports competitions happen each sem like inter or intra IIIT sports meets and extracurricular activities like singing, art competitions are held regularly.

Hostels have all basic ameneties like study tables, washing machines, cupboards, etc. Students can reside outside campus with permissions and juniors from 2023 batch are allotted hostels outside campus but accomodation is managed completely by college. Hostels are allotted to students during time of offline reporting.

Candidate has to quaify JEE Mains exam with above 94% to be eligible for this college. Application form, application fees and dates are available in jee mains website. Reservation benefits are applicable to castes like SC, ST, OBC, EWS during time of rank and college allotment. JEE Mains is conducted every year in feb and is one of the hardest exams in India. Admission process is simple.
