THAPAR (SHOULD YOU COME HERE OR NOT)

i chose computer engineering beacuse i was interested to study that and also there is a high demand for that compared to another branches . the faculty to student ratio is also quite good there are a max of 30 students in one group . the facultys are highly qualified most of them are phds . the term exams are conducted twice every year , the exams are relatively easy to pass

the internships start in 3rd year . various companies come to hire students for summer internships , this year jp morgan hired almost 100 students from thapar . but as the batch strength is very high there is intense competition

students become eligible for placements in 4th year , almost all the good companies visit the college the highest package was somewhere around 54 lpa and the average package was near12 lpa . almost 80 % studenst got placed . the placements is quite decent but as the batch size is big so the competiion is very high

the fees is quite high , ven the hostel and mess fees is very high for a normal student to afford . als there are scholarships available for students based on jee rank and board marks , also there are scholarships if you get a nice cg.

The annual fest is saturanalia conducted in month of november , the tech fests are conducted in month of february where various hackathons like hacktu , hacklipse , makeathon are conducted . it has a very large library almost all the books required are available . the sports culture is also very vibrant almost all the sports can be accessed easily , the social group is also very nicee you will find various ambitiuos and intelligent peers

the rooms vary depending upon the hostel but in general the room is very spacious , the cleaners come to clean the room the washrooms get cleaned everyday . the meals are quite ok , i mean the mess food is good sometimes but not all the time . the hostel fees is also quite very high . most of the studenst prefer hostel over rented room or pg but even if u go for a pg they are not very expensive in this locality

50 % of seats are filled via board numbers and 50 % of seats are filled via jee mains , also there is a 50 % quota for punjab students. The application form can be find on the website of thapar , appliaction dates are generally announced after the first examination of jee mains . 50 % of the seats are resereved for punjab students , for the punjab students the cut off is mostly very low compared to the students form other states also there are some seats reserved for sc , st and obc students . the improvement can be lowering of reservation for the punjab students as it is unfair for the students from other states
