Remarks

College is worth your 4 years. You will experience alot of things here and gain great exposure. College management is really good but like all government colleges its slow. You can spend a superb tenure of 4 years in this place enjoying and learning alot. Take your decision wisely and enjoy while learning.

Entrance Preview

I took the JEE Mains examination and scored a decent 175 to fetch a rank of 13400 to get admission into PEC. PEC is in main Chandigarh city and is almost 100 years old college. PEC has gained a lot of reputation and thus I took admission in this famous college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is very much refined. Very up to date. Computers and other important subjects are taught to every branch. Courses focus much on research work and lab experiments. One can take minor electives in any field like CS, Electronics, Mechatronics, Economics. Very well structured and maintained.

Internships Opportunities

Yes. Companies visit in campus for internships in the 5th sem. 6th semester is the intern semester. General stipend is around 20K pm. Companies like Amazon, McKinsey, JP Morgan, Arcesium, Sandisk visit the campus to hire interns. Overall experience is good. Its a verg good thing and se love this at PEC.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements are very good. Almost every one has a job in hand. Average package is around 7LPA. Highest went till 34LPA by Arcesium. Companies like Amazon 27LPA, McKinsey 14LPA, JP Morgan 11LPA, Microsoft 28LPA, Goldman Sachs 22LPA, etc. Moreover each person who sits in campus placements gets placed and hence this makes this college a wonderful college with amazing placements.

College Events

5

There are numerous technical and cultural events organized in college by many clubs and societies. The major fest is known as PECFEST which recieves a footfall of around 50K. Other clubs and societies also organise events like Hackathons, Trivium, Comedy show, music and dramatics events. Management is an integral part of every event as students only manage the whole events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is very much feasible. One semester costs around 60K tuition fees. The hostel fees is around 60K for an year. For an engineering degree, fees is very much feasible. Special plans for EWS and PD students are also there. Scholarships are also provided by college.

Fees and Financial Aid

No loan facilities are there but there are numerous scholarships available for diversified people. Be it EWS, girls, toppers or winners many kinds of scholarships are provided. Most of these scholarships are availed.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is good. Gender ratio is 7:3 M:F. Most people are from Punjab and Haryana region. Cultural activities are great. Much extras are commenced after classes. No politics. No ragging. People are good here. Equality is preached. Many workshops are organized.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are not that good. Not bad too. But like rooms are not upto the mark. Infrastructure is not that good. Hostel rooms are small. Shared in 1st sem and singles afterwards. No PGs available by college. Hostels are inside campus. One time yearly deposit of 60K to be paid. Mess is good. You get good punjabi food for like 1500-2500 pm.

Alumni/Alumna

Very well connected alumni network. Alumni meet orgazied every year. Seniors are really very helpful. There is a healthy and good network between students. Much respect is given. No ragging.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is not that good. Its towards hectic side. Reason being we have only 2 exams in a semester. One Mid term and other end term. In both exams we dont even get a day's break. All exams are continous. Lab evaluations are also conducted and their marks are counted in final grade.

Admission

First I gave the JEE Mains test which happens in 1st week of April. Scored to clear the cut off and applied to JAC Chandigarh. The online round started just after results of JEE around 15th May. Through JAC, I applied for PEC online and was offered a seat there. Then I had to pay a nominal fees of 40K INR to cconfirm my seat. Then I had to report to Punjab University for 1st counseling and to PEC for 2nd counseling where I got my admission letter.I didnt like the administration at PU but things were well managed at PEC.

Faculty

3.5

The teachers here are very well educated obtaining their degrees from IITs n NITS. PhDs are appointed as full time professors and Mtech as assistants. Many teachers are really good, however some have little interested in teaching. Rest teaching criterias and teachers are really good.

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
