An eye opener into department of biotechnology at graphic era University

My interest in biotechnology field increases during the pandemic time when i saw how biotechnologists played huge role in development of vaccines and other necessities. I chose for btech instead of bsc as the course outcome is better, it graduated student with knowledge of computer science also that can shape you for industries. Faculty student ratio is 1:4 , not every faculty pay enough attention to students it depends on their need like if your mentor is an associate professor they will endulge you with them but you cannot expect this from a senior professor. Faculties here are though very hard working and talented. Teaching method when we talk about class lectures is good they provide you ppts, notes, important questions for exams. But practicals are not that fruitful as there is not good laboratory facility students are more therefore labs are occupied everytime and you can not have enough encounter to the instruments. Exams are easy due to availability of notes, 2 times exam/yr.

College does not provide you any internship opportunity you have to find it by yourself . If you have good connection with any of your facult tgen he or she may send you somewhere to work otherwise there is no arrangements from department. They can arrange internship in some random companies available in dehradun which does not involve you in ant quality work plus they charge you too

Fees ranges from 1.5 to 2 lakhs on average students. You get discount based on your 12th grades. Placements are not good you don't get any placement in core biotech companies but you can be placed in IT companies with avg 3 lakh packages. You have to arrange for internships by yourself as well , you can get valued recommendation letters from the teachers .

Campus life is good , grafest is a much awaited fest here that hosts good artists performances. You get to experience dj nights quite often like on Christmas, new year, Diwali etc . Library has good number of books but it is on first come first get basis those not able to get books from Library are provided with soft copies , ample of space is there to study timings are also good from 9am to 7pm. Classrooms are well equiped with seats , projectors and white boards and proper electricity supply. Sports are not focused that much in all fields but a good football team is there . There are number of social gps like kavyanjali , nss, ncc , microbiologist society, biopreneur etc. you can develop various skills socially.

Admission process is very simple you just have to visit the admission cell and tell them about which course you want admission in. The staff will prvide you all info regarding fees, placements everything, also there is no deadline. There is no reservation benefits in the college in deemed campus except girl child reservation that provide 15%. discount in the fees. If you want to study in hill campus then the uttarakhand residential people or having domicile can get certain discount.
