Course Curriculum Overview

3

I choose the course because I love music and music is in my blood and heart. Faculty and student ratio is 1:30. Most of the faculty have done phd. The semister exam had occurred after 6 months and the pass process was difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

2

Our university does not have any internship opportunities. In music technicaly you will not get intership. It is not a technical line. You have to know things by yourself snd you have to do hard work for your achievements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The fees of the course was 110000 rupees per year. For me there was no fees hike. For study the cost was surely high but for this type institution this was ok. I got swami vivekanand scholarship. Our institute do not provide campusing.

Campus Life

3

The university conduct only 1 annual fest in December month. Our college have 7 central library where you can get all music stuff knowledge. Well our college conduct sports like cricket, tennis, basketball. There are social group like GitaBidhan BOYZ etc.

Hostel Facilities

3

Well I did not live in hostel. But from my friend I heard that hostel was good. You wil get a bed, a desk,a fan and a light. Meal quality was average for everyone. Registration process has done when i took admission and porcess was same like admission.

Admission

I got the cource from admission test by myself. I find the application from on line and application fees was 600 rs and application date was 18 aug 2015. The porcess was smooth i have no issue with that

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was fulfilling, tough, and interesting and covered almost all topics present in the PhD. I feel this curriculum has changed my way of observing things people and ideas. Sociology is a subject which covers almost all parts of society and is studied differently if not studied in proper structure as in stages, it might not be interesting or fruitful for the students. However, I would say this university and this department have incredibly designed the curriculum. One issue is there is that the gaps between each semester are too short. It became difficult in the fourth semester when the dissertation came as we had to balance completing our dissertation as well as each paper.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was good in literature in my school times and that influenced me to choose this course. As an English Literarture student I could say that it helped my vocabulary and I can use it in my further studies and also in many career like, writing journals and freelance typing, I can also pursue my knowledge in teaching literature in schools and colleges. As far as I have gained knowledge, I dont see any requirement in improving things, the teaching methods is quiet good and should keep the way as it is. As there were annual exams, the syllabus used to reach to a vast level which becomes quiet difficult to cope up with, therefore cracking the examinations with a pass level marks becomes tough, although question papers during exams were not so tough, one could pass with better marks if given effort through out the year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love literature that's why I took up this course. This course is not limited to just literature, we also learn about history, philosophy, psychology and linguistics. This course has so much potential but all are wasted as nobody teaches us how to apply it in real life. There are no active journals in the department that we could publish our papers in. Hardly any seminars. We are not required to write a thesis of any kind. We are just not taught how to go forward with this. Our classrooms are big but that doesn't mean we would all sit in the same classroom in 40° C. We have separate sections but are told to sit in the same room. We also could use projectors. Semesters are reduced to trimesters. No time to study. And they don't want to give you marks, the highest cgpa you can get is 7.

There were no official placements notices for our department as we are Literature students. But for others they provide good placements with good packages. For us the college provides NET and other government examinations classes for the aspirants.

Placement Experience:

Companies start recruiting students when they are in their third semester. However, every company demand the students to complete the degree and then join the job. Companies that visited the English department are Waterpump company modelled at Alipore, hiring for marketing, editorial work offering pay of 3LPA, Cognizant hiring for technical writer offering pay of 4 LPA, Adrosonic hiring for content writing offering pay of 4.5 LPA. Azim Premji foundation hiring for Associate, offering a payment of 5 LPA. The majority of the students go for government jobs like UPSC, WBCS, PSC, SSC CLG, higher education or to pursue a PhD from top-notch universities abroad and in India. 60 per cent of students sit for placements and bag all the opportunities. I belong to the majority of the students who aspire to stay in the field of academia. The curriculum of the university developed a passion for learning, imbibing and further research for scholars to come up with research, my plan is to be an educator.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen this course because I have got good marks and I always wanted to do postgraduation from a great university that's why I have chosen this course. We have a total of 58 seats in our PG English department. For UR-23,OBC-16, SC-9, ST-4, EWS-6. We have around 11 faculties in the English department. So the student-faculty ratio is very good. It's almost 5 students per faculty. All of our faculties are highly qualified. All of them have done Ph.D. or M.Phil. As we have got outstanding faculties we got learning experience outside of the syllabus. We are seeing many dimensions of studies. Some of our faculties also take classes by PPT presentation. They take seminars, encourage group discussion, and many more. We have a total of 4 semesters to pass and exams are tough if you do not study. We have around 5 months gap in between each semester.
