IIT KHARAGPUR REVIEW

Based on my rank this was the best college and department which I was getting. Also I am from jharkhand so there is huge scope of mining engineers in home state itself. Stodent is to faculty ratio is 20:1. The proffesors are so helpfull, they take your doubts positively and explain anything which is relevant. Most of the professors are iit graduates and done phd from iits, so no doubt about their qualifications. 2 exams are conducted in 1 semester that is 6 months. One mid-semester and other end-sem. The end-sem has higher weightage than mid sem. End is more tough than mid sem.The exams will be fully related to the slides and presentations taught by proffesors in classroom. Aprt from these two major exams many class test also take place time to time.

Interships opportunities are so great.You can get paid internship after second year. Many for interships offers are also tehre. You have to do projects under different professors. If you do well during untern period you can also get ppos that are pre-placement offers.

From 3rd year, students are eligible for placements. Most of the students are placed at the end of third year or in the starting of 4th year. Most of the big companies like google amazon flipkart coal india ,hcl and many more visits the campus, Approx all the students got placed, Some prefer to go for higher studies. Highaest package was 2.5 cr and average package is 18 to 20 lpa. My plan is to apply for goverment jobs like mining engineer in coal india.

Fees in iits are obviously very less than rpivate colleges because it is a government institute. Tution fees is 2 lakhs per year and hostel fees is 1.1 lakhs per year for general and obc students.For sc st students there is fee waiver of 2/3 of the total fees. If your income is less than 5 lpa then you have to pay 1/3 of the tution fees. If your income is less than 1 lpa than you do not have to pay tution fees. There are many scholarships availabe.Most of them a income criteria. Your family income should be less than 5 lpa. Also you can get paid internships after 2 year from the college.

The two main fest of our college is Kshitij and Spring Fest. Both are conducted in the month of January. Kshitij is the largest techno-management fest in asia. Spring fest is a cultural fest. There are a large number of books available in the library. You can get issued the required books from the library. Classrooms are high-tech. Classrooms have projectors and blackboards. Professors use both according to their use. Sports facilites are so good. Most of the sports are available here. You can try new sports. There are many societies and clubs run by students.Like oncore for English drama pravah for Hindi drama. B club for business and many more.

My hall name is lbs hall.It has very large rooms. It is triple sharing.Single fans ,bed ,table and almirah are given to everybody. Mess quality is good. Some times food are not that tasty but quality is good. The mess menu changes every months accoring to students voting. When the college will be alloted halls will be automatically alloted to you. You have to take hostels only, you can not rent any rooms.

Admission to this college can be done through Jee Mains and then Jee Advanced. You have to apply for jee mains and if you get a good percentile in jee mains you will be allowed to give jee advanced. Then according to the seats available based on your Jee adv rank, you will be alloted a college through josaa counseling. There are reservation benefits available like obc ews sc and St. Girls are given an extra 20% reservation. The admission process is too smooth, you just have to focus on your studies and then take the exams. Fees for jee adv 2800 rs for general and obc boys students. It is 1400 for all girls and SC and pwd candidates. After jee adv you have to apply for josaa concelling to get a seat. Josaa charges a fee of 30000 for general and obc students. If you get a college this 30000 will be managed in your 1st semester college fees. If you do not get any college 25000 will be returned to you.
