Things to know about before entering into FIEM

Since I am interested in computer science I persuing this course. For every subject there are around 3 to 4 faculties. Don't know much about the qualifications of the faculty. But teaching methodology is good. The faculties are cooperative and helpful. Semester exams are held once in every 6 months and during the course, continuous assessments are held. Though in this semester exams are postponed under various circumstances . The difficulty level of the semester exams are moderate. Though some papers are tough and difficult to pass .

The internship opportunities are bad. The college rarely provides internships and students have look for internship on their own outside the campus. Though during campus placements students get usually placed before final semester and the students do internship in their final semester in the company that there are placed .

After 2nd year students are allowed for internship opportunities and after 3 Rd year students are allowed to sit for campus placements. Companis like TCS, WIPRO, INFOSIS, COGNIZANT, ACCENTURE, CAPGEMINI etc. come for campus placements. The highest package offered to students was 12 lpa which was offered by IBM. The average package of our college is 3 lacs per annum offered by the service based companies. The percentage of students placed is around 60 percent. My plan is to sit for placements and get a job once I graduate.

In first semester the semester fees is around 70000 rupees and in second semester it is around 42000 rupees. The semester fees ranges between 40000-50000 rupees. I am getting a scholarship worth of rupees 60000 rupees every year. It is a government scholarship known as Swami Vivekananda merit cum scholarship.

The campus is too small and there is no amenities for sports in the campus. Though sports tournaments held in every 3, 4 month. The cultural club (cultav) and tech club(explorica) are very active in our college and are run by students. There are many events , fests, seminars that are held in our college. Our college has a descent library with almost all kinds of books , journals and magazines. The overall social life in college is average.

Admission was through WBJEE. The eligibility of the course is that one should pass class 12 from pure science with minimum 60% and a WBJEE rank. WBJEE application/ registration form is available on the official WBJEE website . The price of the registration form is arround Rs 500. There is reservation benifits. The councelling process is too long and the students have to wait for a long period of time. So improvements can be done to shorten the councelling process.
