KGP in a nutshell

My course is in department of metallurgical and materials engineering. It is a renowned branch and has a great alumni network (Sundar pichai is an example). The faculty student ratio lies somewhere between 40:1. The faculty is highly qualified and has a deep knowledge about the subject and are professional teachers. There are two exams in each semester (mid-sem and end-sem) apart from other internals. If you study daily and be in touch with your subject it will be easy to pass .

Many students (who have cgpa greater than 8.5) get internship opportunities in their last semester and a chance to explore their own self and get experience prior to placements, One offer was a research internship at HongKong polytechnic university.

Students who have 4 year program become eligible from 7th semester and dual degree students 9th semester onwards. 216 companies visited our campus this year including MnCs such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, Meta etc. 1377 offers were given to 1277 students. The highest package went to 1.6 crore per Annum, and average package was 17 lakhs per annum Approximately 92% students got placement this year. My plans are to pursue higher studies in renowned universities of USA such as Harvard, Stanford etc.

The fees here is approximately 3 lacs per year including all hostel fees, mess fees, water electricity etc. The fee hike isn't too high generally and bearable. Students get many scholarships based on merit and other reservations

Kshitij is an annual techno-management fest. Springfest is another annual fest occurring in our college. The library has a wide range of books (approximately 2 lakh books) and we can issue any book just by showing our identity card . The classrooms are highly comfortable with air conditioners and equipped with charging points. There are many sports activities such as cricket , football, table tennis, tennis, badminton, hockey etc. Each sport has its own governance and dedicated play area. Some social groups in IIT KGP are Encore, TFPS , Spectra, Robotix, Pravah. All these are run by students themselves

I'm currently staying in LBS HALL OF RESIDENCE. It has triple sharing rooms with three beds , three dedicated fans for each boarder. Each boarder of a room has dedicated cupboard for storage and table for study. The mess food quality isn't too bad and eatable. They provide 4 meals a day and has a menu decided for entire month . The registration process is very easy and most of it is automatically allocated upon seat finalisation in joda counselling. The hostel is affordable and not too costly for all students.

The major criteria was 75 % in class 12 exams . We got a notification in December about jee mains 1st attempt . We were required to fill an application form and pay 2000 for jee mains registrations. The application form was available on jee mains website itself with all details written in it. I didn't avail any reservation benefits so I don't have much idea about it. If NTA could improve their website it would be a great help. That's the only improvement I wish to see in the admission process
