Transportation to the campus is a bit difficult for people who live outside of west Bengal. The airport is too far
Hostel and mess facilities are not too great

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is pretty good in my department (Industrial and systems engineering). In the first year all students have the same courses and the classes are held together irrespective of the department.

Class Size: 90Course Fees: INR 250000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees have increased in recent years, but there are lots of financial assistance available, depending on your family income bracket. There are merit based scholarships one can apply for as well( for eg- MCM)

Campus Life

Life in campus is pretty fun . The two big fests are kshitij - the techno management fest, and spring fest - the social and cultural fest ,both held in the month of January. Students from all over the country from various universities come to the campus to attend the fests

Admission

For admission, all applicants needed to have 75% and above in their respective 12th grades. For unreserved (general) category the approximate rank required in jee advanced ranges from 150 to 10,000 depending on the department of choice.

Placement Experience:

1)From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placement. 2) Cognizant , TCS(most fav), Wipro, startups, IBM visit for recruitment . 3)In 2023 highest was 45lpa by amazon average is 4.5lpa. 4)From our Hostel each and every senior get placed. some with good package like tcs digital, even off campus (2025). 5)My plan is to take a job and enter in IT firm to learn and teach new technolgies through my YOUTUBE.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally i opted for electrical and electronics instead of the branch of my choice is because my scores were not enough to secure a seat in CSE. But EEE is pretty cool as well for those willing to grow in this branch. Our curriculum exposes us to the rapidly growing sectors in the industry and educates us of all we need to know about the course in depth. If you want to continue ahead in a research field, this Institute is the most supportive. The exam questions are also relevant enough and considering we only need to actually stress over end semesters, its fair enough per semester. It would be better if our professors removed the attendance criteria rest im fine with everything else

M.Tech in IIT KGP - What you need to know.

Clg Review

Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc....Read More
