Remarks

The college is one of the best in DU. With excellent faculty and social exposure, the students can explore various things. Everything is greatly organized but one thing that i would really like my college to have is to provide an equal opportunity to all the students to work upon their skills and improve them instead of always preferring the students who are already good at it. Competition is good, but cooperation is something that is important as well to function harmoniously.

Entrance Preview

There isn't any entrance exam for admission in Gargi college, Delhi University for undergraduate courses. The admission is merit-based and the college sets cut-offs for various courses in regard with the admission process. I am currently pursuing my BA with specialisation in Psychology from Gargi, due to my own interest in this subject and my aim of being a clinical psychologist in near future.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is pretty good. Having a programme course, i got an opportunity to learn various subjects. The scope of practical learning is pretty much great as the departments are very cooperative and provide students with various opportunities to explore more.

Internships Opportunities

College does provide various internship opportunities, rest depends upon the students if they want to apply for them or not. Most of the internships do not provide any stipend, it just provides the students a platform for learning and a peak into the practical world.

Placement Experience

4

The placement cell of Gargi is really good and gives a vast opportunity to the students to fetch up a good job of their choices. Students are regularly notified about various placement opportunities through the college page as well as through whatsapp.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The annual fees for BA courses ranges between 8500-10000, with the examination fees ranging from 500-1000 annually. Gargi is a government college, and the fees structure makes it quite affordable and accessible for a common man.

Hostel Facilities

4

Gargi college, situated in the South campus of DU doesn't have any hostel facility.

Exam Structure

The exams are conducted twice in a year. Taken at the end of semester, i feel that the amount of syllabus can be of some pressure to the students initially, so it is important to be more frequent with the classes and to be in touch with studies so as to perform well.

Faculty

4

Overall the faculty is good. Most of the teachers are highly qualified and are very experienced as well which reflects in their teaching as well. They are cooperative and are always there for the students. Some newly appointed teachers, or the adhoc ones are not really as good with the teaching required, but the reviews of the students are also taken into consideration to improve upon such issues.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
