Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Opting for the Biotechnology course at NIT Calicut was a decision fueled by my keen interest in the fusion of biology and technology. The faculty-student ratio, a crucial factor for personalized learning, was quite favorable. The faculty members, with their impressive qualifications and research prowess, bring a wealth of knowledge to the Biotechnology department. Engaging teaching methods, which blend lectures with hands-on laboratory work, cater to both theoretical understanding and practical application. The department's commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in biotechnology ensures that students are well-equipped for the dynamic nature of the field. Term exams were conducted in a timely manner, allowing ample preparation time. While the difficulty level was appropriately challenging, the transparent evaluation process and constructive feedback from the faculty supported my academic growth. The overall experience in the Biotechnology course at NIT Calicut has be

Internships Opportunities

2.5

NIT Calicut offers q diverse set of internship opportunities, connecting students with renowned organizations nationally and internationally. The Placement and Training Cell facilitates hands-on experience in various domains, contributing to practical exposure and skill enhancement. Details vary yearly based on industry collaborations and student preferences.

Placement Experience

3

So, around the seventh semester at NIT Calicut, the whole placement buzz kicks in. You've got the big names like Google and Microsoft rolling onto the campus, throwing job offers left and right. The numbers vary each year, that's the drill. Talking about packages, it's a mixed bag – highest, average, depends on the company and the gig. Some folks score sweet deals, making the whole placement hustle quite the ride. A good chunk of students secures placements; the Placement Cell does its thing, bringing in companies and making it work. Post-degree plans? Well, looking at options that align with my studies – might dive into more learning, hit the job scene, or maybe explore a research gig. Gotta put these skills to good use, you know?

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for my course at NIT Calicut, taking into account reservation, hover around 2-3 lakhs per year. However, it's noteworthy that NIT Calicut implements a gradual increase in prices, particularly for hostel and mess fees. This incremental approach, though beneficial in managing expenses, can still pose a burden on students. Despite this, the overall fees structure remains reasonable, aligning with the quality of education and facilities provided at the institution.

Campus Life

3

Life at NIT Calicut is dynamic with vibrant events like "Ragam" (February) and "Tathva" (October). The library offers rich resources, and classrooms boast modern amenities. Sports facilities and diverse clubs, such as the Nature Club and Robotics Club, enrich the student experience. Active online hubs, like the official college website, foster collaboration. Notably, changes in Tathva, removing Proshow and Prowheels, bring anticipation. As of now, neither Tathva nor Ragam has taken place, showcasing the ever-evolving nature of student life at NIT Calicut.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Almost all hostel rooms for first year students are such that there are 4 people in one room, 3 cupboards, two fans are there and adequate. One of the major downsides is that as I mentioned before they are slowly increasing the hostel and mess fees, and is becoming increasingly unbearable. The mess food is good and some days it's just great.

Admission

The admission process at NIT Calicut involves appearing for the JEE Main examination. Students then need to fill out online application form specifying their preferences for courses and institutes. The institute then releases cutoff scores based on JEE Main results, determining eligibility for further rounds of counseling and seat allocation. The overall offline admission process after reaching NIT Calicut was not headache or hassle at all it was very quick and easy.

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
