Remarks

Overall the college is great and one makes lifelong experiences and friends here. However , there is a slight lack of interest in technical activities in many students. The location of the college helps a lot, based in Chandigarh many things are easily accessible be it institutes for preparation of competitive exams or be it the lovely exposure of this great city. I would give this college a big thumbs up.

Entrance Preview

I gave JEE Mains to get admission in this college , although i cleared JEE Advanced also it had nothing to do with admissions here. One should register for JAC-Chanigarh in due time , it usually happens in the month of July or August . There is no interview process. I always had an interest in Electronics and my rank was also good in that respect , so i chose this branch . I knew about this college from quite some time due to its good reputation and popularity , although my first priority was IIT , I didn't get the branch of my choice there so I landed up here.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course turned out to be fairly good, however I found more practical aspects in the technical societies than in the course itself. The institute has some decent research projects going on , but not everyone knows about them , it takes inquiry and personal effort to be a part of those. There are more projects in the computer Science field than in Electronics.

Internships Opportunities

College provides great internships with stipends, many of which lead to a PPO . Internship experience are sweet , especially when they end with a PPO. Options for research internships are also there . Stipend amount varies from 15,000 pm to a highest of 1 lakh , many people do a unpaid internship for government organizations.

Placement Experience

4

95% percent of the students get placed , and talk of double placement is common place. The average package is about 7.5 lakh . Major companies like Amazon, DE Shaw , Goldman Sachs, J P Morgan, SanDisk, Texas Instruments etc visit the campus . The are a huge number of coding, finance and consultancy companies visiting the campus , however there is a shortage of core companies visiting the campus. Overall the placement scenario is good.

College Events

5

Pecfest is major event with technical , cultural and star performances , and is one of the largest in the nation. Many other fests for different societies and organizations. Pecfest is a fest of the stature of Mood Indigo (IIT-B , largest technical fest in India) . It attracts a footfall of 25-30,000. The college authorities are very collaborative in these aspects. Financial contribution is given by college and a huge section is also collected from marketing efforts.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The semester fees is about 50,000 . Which is way more affordable than other institutes. Being a govt. institute it is quite affordable. Hostel fees is also about 50,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is given to the batch semester every semester. For the first semester it is given to the rank opener of every branch. There is also a research scholarship (stipend of 10,000 per month) for students with inclination towards research.

Campus Life

3.5

Extracurricular here is epic and way better than any other technical college . People discover their hidden talent to such an extent that they often reach professional levels in it. I was a part of many technical societies and also discovered my debating and managing skills here. Facilities were good and adequate .

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Single Rooms. Yipee! Initially one may have to share the room with a roommate but by second semester single rooms are assured The fees for a semester in hostel is 50,000 and Mess fees for a month is 1500. For all essentials PEC Market is nearby and being inside the city all markets are in proximity . Hostel life is lovely here and there are no restrictions on boys especially ( basic rules are same ) ie. no IN TIME . For girls there is however an IN TIME of 8.30 extend able to 9.30 . In all hostel; life here is a whole new experience where you make lifelong friends .

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni interaction is good . They provide financial and professional support to students. Many of the alumni have reached great statures in professional and public life. Alumni do contribute in seminars and functions also.

Exam Structure

There are mid-semester and end-semester exams , usually college life is quite relaxed and there are enough opportunities and time to pursue other passions. However when the exams are nearing one has top gear up. In 1st year curriculum is quite relaxed , however 2nd is a bit tight . 75% attendance is the norm.

Faculty

4

The faculty is qualified and good . However the nature govt. institutes is such that some teachers do not take much interest while some do . The standard of teaching is most teachers is good , but some are bad. It is not difficult to approach any teacher regarding any issue . Even teachers of senior posts and HOD's are approachable and of kind nature barring a few.

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
