Remarks

The college has told us what freedom is and how to handle this freedom and prioritize your life choices and decisions.Along with academic development ,the college focuses on development of person to fight the world outside. Its urban setting open plethora of options for students to explore outside the college and never a student feels confined to the boundaries of the college. The only downside is the what every typical engineering college in India is expected to have in terms of the huge workload First of all the exposure city like Chandigarh gives is awesome.I got to meet a lot of people from different parts of the country with fascinating talents.I learned a lot of games(especially T.T),participated in different club activities and even did marketing(whole new experience for me) for the fest of the college. The fest of the college 'PECFEST" is totally mindblowing.Overall I learned a lot of things and hope that this learning curve becomes more steep in the remaining college life.

Entrance Preview

I wrote JEE(Joint Entrance Examination) Mains 2016 to get into this college. It is conducted by CBSE every year on the first Sunday of April.I got 10k rank in this exam which landed me here in the electronics branch here as expected by me.No there was no interview process following this. It was totally on the basis of JEE rank(which was calculated through CBSE board marks and JEE marks).I heard a lot about the enormous potential this branch has and how you can get into a variety of career options later on as you can get a job in your core company,or you can join a consultancy or you can can get into any IT company. Also the average package of my branch is pretty handsome(8-9 lakhs). All these factors made me choose Electronics and Communication branch in PEC.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

This course up till now has been quite vast as well as a bit tough(no doubt about that as electronics is considered as one of the toughest branches of engineering). The subjects are many and are quite vast. There is a lot of stuff that has quite wide practical applications like VLSI design,Image Processing etc,Digital Signal Processing(DSP) etc.Non core subjects such as economics, psychology etc have great practical significance(illustrated by thye reports we have to make).

Internships Opportunities

Yes college provides internship to students.Companies start arriving for internships from late July and students those who get selected gets a pretty huge stipend varying from 25k to 1 lakh.Since I am in second year,my experience is little.I am slowly getting to know about these things day by day.

Placement Experience

4

Placements scenario is quite good here.Average package of PEC is around 7.5 lakhs which I think is quite impressive.Highest average package are grabbed by CSE branch followed by ECE and then other branches.Average package of our branch is around 8-9 lakhs. Almost 95% of the students get placed from here every year.Approx. 80 companies came for the placement session this year which included some pretty big brand names such as Amazon,McKenzie,San-disk,Goldman Sachs,Texas Instruments,JP Morgan and many more.

College Events

4.5

The college organizes one of north India's biggest Technical, Cultural and Managerial Fest known as the 'PecFest'.It is the perfect combination of what you call a 3 day festival of technology and entertainment.Major Bollywood artists and Indian rock bands are invited to perform on the final night of the fest.Average footfall be around 1500 persons every day with major amount of audience on the last night.the fest is organized by the students alone by the collective efforts through marketing, publicity, offers.College authorities do contribute toward the funds collected for the fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

PEC is quite affordable as compared to many elite private colleges like BITS Pilani(approx. 22 lakhs),Thapar(approx 20 lakhs) as well as other good government colleges like IITs(approx 12 lakhs) and NITs. Tution fee of the institute is approx 69k which keeps on decreasing in subsequent years.Overall it takes 7-8 lakhs for the complete degree along with hostel which makes it quite affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides a refund for the semester fees to the topper of each branch every semester.Though I didn't get any.According to me the college doesn't help as such in getting a loan.

Campus Life

4

The college is known for its extracurricular activities other than academics. Their are many cultural clubs as well as technical societies. It gives students ample opportunity to explore and polish their inner talents. The seniors who run such societies and clubs are highly helpful and knowledgeable.College provides adequate funds to each and every club or society or them to conduct seminars, lectures and events.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes I am a Hosteler. Some of the blocks of my hostel are great which are recently built are great while others are mediocre average rooms. In the first year here, most of the students share their room with a single partner and a very few have to share it with two partners. But from 2nd semester or 2nd year onward you get your own individual single rooms. No there are no PGs here.Hostel fee varies from hostel to hostel but on an average hostel fee is 60k for a year which is quite affordable. Mess food was quite bad in the first year but now as our mess contract has been given to food agency, quite of food has improved quite a lot.

Alumni/Alumna

The college calls for an annual meeting of the alumni which provides a perfect platform for the students to interact with them and hence gain from their experiences and mistakes. The alumni network is strong and donates labs and hostel for the development of the students

Exam Structure

Exams here are taken in two shifts; one in mid and other and the other ones at the end of the semester. They are not that big problems. Quizzes are held quite frequently right starting right of the beginning semester. But most of the students study one day before the quizzes and exams and are still able to score well. This is quite a change in the exam culture and this makes it cool.

Faculty

3.5

Most of the teachers here are well educated and have their masters and PHD done from good universities. The only loophole I see in the education system here is that senior teachers despite having great knowledge do not show interest in their teaching making the subject quite uninteresting and boring.Whereas ME and PH.D students and assistant professors despite of having less teaching experience show great passion for their teaching.Overall standard of teaching is average but can be improved greatly by taking some small measures.

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
