What Students Say?
Likes
- I liked the campus, it has a lot of places to sit and relax with your friends and also makes you more productive.
- The faculty is great. They are very helpful and passionate about their courses. However, some lectures can get very boring.
Dislikes
- I dislike the fact that there is so much pressure for attendance. Most of the kids do not enjoy the lectures due to the way of teaching but are forced to attend them.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BA English Honours because I like literature and books. The curriculum is great and the faculty is very passionate about the subject too. The faculty-to-student ratio is also great and there is hardly any mismanagement. Most of the faculty have finished their PhDs and are quite enthusiastic about their teaching methods, especially some teachers, it's a delight to be present in their lectures. Since we were the first batch to sit for the CUET exams and all the mismanagement that happened, we entered college in November 2022. By then, our seniors were already halfway through their odd semesters and we had a lot of catching up to do. Therefore, our semesters were shortened but the curriculum remained the same which became very taxing for us, especially since we were freshers. The exam itself is very similar to school-level exams and were quite easy to get used to except the very lengthy answers we had to write.
Internships Opportunities
I have not come across such opportunities. However, there is a society that works just on internships and another that works on placements, they would be able to give a better insight. The college does have such opportunities and facilities if the students want to avail it.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
We paid 16000 during admission which was for a whole year and we paid a similar sum again at the start of 2nd year. We also paid 1200-1400 as exam fees before the final examinations of each semester. I haven't applied for any scholarship, aid, or job until now therefore I do not have any insight on those.
Campus Life
The annual fest is called Nexus and is usually conducted in the first few months of the year. It is a massive event for the college and several popular artists are also invited to perform and there is also always a wide variety of stalls. The library just got renovated and it's much more spacious now with more seats and tables to study on. There is a huge range of books as well and the search for a particular book is made easier with a computer that has all the data of the books. The classrooms are well-lit and have good furniture. However, only half the classrooms have a projector and a screen. There are also no ACs in the classrooms. Extracurricular activities are highly encouraged and students are given extra attendance for being a part of the bigger, more well-known societies like NSS. Sports are also encouraged and a few students are admitted to the college due to the sports quota as well. We have a large ground with various settings for different sports that motivate students.
Admission
We had to take the CUET exam for admission into DU. I had to take a few compulsory subjects in the exam to be eligible for the course like English, history, Political Science, etc. CUET is only open once a year and the admission process opens only after the results are out. We applied for the exam through their website around May and paid a small sum for every subject we wanted to take the exam for and there was a concession for the reserved groups. We then opted for colleges and courses of our choice. There are a few seats reserved in every course of every college for the reserved groups so we have a better chance of getting into good colleges with a course of our liking. Since we were the first batch that took the CUET exam, it was very mismanaged and caused inconvenience to many. However, the batch following ours didn't have the issues we did so that is a great improvement on their part which i was wishing for.
