Course Curriculum Overview
I had opted for bcom hons as i plan on opting for mba later in the future. I would have gone for business in management studies(BMS) or bachelor in business administration (BBA) but i wasn't eligible for the same as i didn't have mathematics as a subject in boards. Personally i would suggest to opt for BBA if MBA is your plan as it prepares you for it to some extent. As for my course, the teacher to student ratio isn't what i would expect from a highly respected institution. The ratio currently stands at 1:60. The basic qualification of my teachers is MCOM or PHD. The teaching method is honestly not what one expects in colleges and they definitely don't come close to what college life has been portrayed as in movies. The study here is monotonous. The pattern of term exams is somewhat illogical but coming to difficulty, one can atleast pass easily.
Internships Opportunities
I work for internship cell myself and we do bring a lot of different companies in the college for internships. We even float the opportunities in other colleges pan india. The internship opportunities vary from finance and marketting to editing and tech.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of my college is very active and so the placements are great. The average package for my course is much more than many other universities and so the campus placements are certainly good and is that is one of the reasons why i had opted for my college. One becomes eligible for placements during the third year. The highest package offered had been 36 lakhs with an average of 10.5 lakhs. Placements are almost certain for course atleast. I plan on opting for mba after undergraduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
My fees stands at 26000/year as i study in a government institution. It is one of the biggest advantages of being in my college or any other govt. Institution. It is affordable. I currently am in my first semester so unaware of fees hiking policies and haven't received any scholarship or financial assistance so far.
Campus Life
The campus life as mentioned earlier has been largely misrepresentated in movies. There is no factor of academics shown in them but in reality it only breaks one's dreams of enjoyment. While the college life is certainly much more flexible than schools, it still is a lot different from what is usually believed. The social life is certainly impacted largely as one interacts with a a lot of people coming from different backgrounds. Clubs or societies also play an important role in one's development and I highly recommend to be a part of them for both social and professional development. As for infrastructure my college is not the best as the boy's hostel remainds under construction and the classroom furniture aren't the best as the chairs cant even fit an average person with tables having a slope so the books keep falling. For sports and extracurricular it depends on an individual as how much does he/she volunteer to. Most of the clubs are run by students themselves.
Admission
The admission process for du was relatively easier than others i had applied to. To be eligible for bcom hons in du, one needs to have studied accountancy, business studies, economics and english in their board exams. I had also appeared for common university entrance test(cuet) where i had chosen accountancy, business studies, economics and english as subjects. However accountancy could have been substituted with maths as the basic requirement was three domains specifying accountancy/maths and a language. However it is important that one selects the same subjects that he/she had studied in boards and later in the admission process we are required to do subject mapping. The application form for cuet was easily available on a single search. Application fees was 1500 and it differs for general and reservation quotas. Application dates although i am a bit foggy on it but started during board exams and continued for atleast 2 months due to several extensions in the deadline.
