What Students Say
Likes
- Freedom provided to Students: We can decide our own semester exam dates, all policies need to be approved by us. Most importantly, we being treated as the major stakeholder of the college
- Student friendly rules: No attendance policy
- Intelligent and diverse peers: have recieved overachieving batchmates and seniors and since this is a university, one can find students across fields of engineering, science and Arts.
Dislikes
- Average infrastructure: certain classrooms haven't been maintained properly. campus isn't properly kept clean
- Casual approach of certain teachers: though the proportion is very low
- Poor hostel: Women's hostel is good enough but the hostels provided to the boys is quite small and all amenities aren't consistently provided
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course cause I wasn't sure about what to do in future, and went with a circuital branch(had some interest in electronics) and due to better average package wrt to my other options. Faculty details can be extracted accurately from the college website I am not sure about the ratio but for our batch it's 1:60 for theory classes And 1:30 or 1:20 for the lab courses Teaching method is an upgrade to what I had experienced in high school. Term exams haven't yet started.(course started late)
Internships Opportunities
I am not aware of this. I am just in my 1st year 1st semester and internship opportunities usually start by the 3rd year. We have an E-Cell where students can pitch up startup ideas and if appropriate may get financial aid.
Placement Experience
According to NIRF we are around 39th amongst all engineering colleges in the median package(We come a bit low due to the large number of courses that is available (16)). From the 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement. I don't know the companies but one can check out the RTI report which our college has published for the year 2023 to find out about placement numbers. across all branches, a minimu of 95% students get placed with many a branches securing 100% I would like to get into service after my degree, or pursue mtech in my subject
Fees and Financial Aid
The biggest advantage of my college is the meagre fees. For all UG courses except IT, the fees for 4 years is around 15K RS. For IT it's around 1.5 Lakh for 4 years. They take the fees for first 2 years at the time of admission and the rest amount is paid later on. Scholarship details are present at Aurobindo Bhavan in Jadavpur campus. Daily Travelling incentives are provided by the college Internships can be achieved by students as early as the 3rd year.
Campus Life
There are various clubs in which students can participate in such as photography, mountaineering, E-Cell, IEEE, CodeClubs etc. The annual fest of our college is sanskirti and it's held around October. Other than that various fests and Club programmes are conducted throughout the year, with participation being allowed even to non-college members. Centralized library is present in the Jadavpur campus with departmental libraries being present. Facilities such as online library is also available to the students Classroom amenities is something which our college can improve on(No ACs, poor maintanence) We have the annual sports event U-Turn, which is freshers exclusive. Other than that our college takes part in various inter University competitions
Admission
To get into the respective course of the respective college, one needs to give the WBJEE exam. There are no limits upon giving this exam. To be eligible for college admission, one needs to secure a minimum of 60% in their respective class XII board exams, and must have given the WBJEE exam for all the 3 subjects of Physics, Maths and Chemistry To find the application form, one needs to keep checking the official WBJEE website. Regarding reservation, 90% of seats are reserved for West Bengal domicile students For domicile proof one needs to acquire the domicile certificate according to regulations laid down by WBJEE Board. Caste based reservation exists only for Domicile students Caste based groups include OBC-A,OBC-B,ST,SC TFW(monetary based reservation) Admission process is quite slow and money is taken for irrelevant processes. And in this year, quite a few loop holes were introduced too.
