Course Curriculum Overview
BA (Honours) Economics in University of Delhi is more advanced and updated compared with other universities and SRCC is one of the top commerce colleges in Asia the faculty:student ratio is approximately 1:50. The faculty is highly qualified and well distinguished in their domain. The department of commerce in SRCC has the highest number of faculty in university. Faculty like DR. Rituranjan, Dr Rajiv Jha, Avinash Jha Priyanka Bhatia is well known for their expertise in economics and has published many papers in lesding journals. The faculty is quite supportive in nature in acdemics as well as non academic life of the students. overall the course is quite tough but managable. Subjects like Mathematical Methods for economics, Econometrics and Statistical methods for economics are quite hard for students with non-mathematics background but can be managed through regular practice.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opputunity at SRCC is provided through Placement cell but it is not efficient as in the case of placemnts. Most of the students find internships through LinkedIn but last year college had around 120+ internship offers with a gross value of 23LPM. The highest stipend was 2.2LPM and average stipend was 18KPM. there is an increse of 69% in gross value and 47% increase in highest stipend value. Overall if you see SRCC has good internship oppurtunities but it is highly competitive in nature.
Placement Experience
The students are allowed to sit in internship interviews from 3rd semester and for placemnts from 5th semester. Teh placemnts are overseen by Placement Cell under direct guideance of Principal. SRCC has highest placements compared to other colleges. The college had highest placement package of 35LPA, average package of 10.15LPA, Median Package of 8LPA with a gross placement value of 51.6 Crore in the year 2022-23. 100+ recruiters made 500+ offers spaning 15+ sectors including Tax and Audit, FMCG, Investment Banking etc. The highest Internship stipend during 2022-23 was 2.2LPM and the gross value is 23 Lakh per month with overall 120+ offers made. The college has highest placemnt offers and also provides other oppurtunities like international exposure through exchange programmes. But this year due to recession the college has been experiancing a reduction in the placements
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is around 27000-30000 depending on the category of students. The fee has not been revised for the last 3 years but comparing with other colleges in Delhi University, the fee in SRCC is quite high. Even though the course fee is 1lakh for 3 years the cost of staying in delhi for outstation students is high since availabilty of hostel seats is very low. It will generally cost you around 5k to 15k per month for accomodation around the university depending upon the facilities you prefer. The college provides Need Based Scholarship to students based on income level along with grade and marks. Apart from this college provides scholarships like alumini scholarship, cb gupta memorial scholarship, students union scholarship etc. Apart from this students can avail HDFC scholarship, NSP and OBC-SC-ST grant from GOI The college has a high placement percentage compared to other DU college including the BIG 4. The average package is around 6lakh/annum. The placement cell is very active
Campus Life
The annual fest is Crossroads which is the largest in DU and the Business Conclave is the largest management fest in Asia. these are conducted generally in March-April. The various college societies also has their annual fest happening during the same period. the library facility is good in srcc with wide range of books, 2 reading hall with AC and a capacity of 150+, and wide range of books. The classrooms are airconditioned, has projectors and is almost well maintained. The sports complex renovated during Commenwealth games 2010 is worldclass with indoor basketball court, batminton courts and gyms. the sports activities is overseen by sports committee under Dr. Kuljeet Kaur. The college has around 40+ societies run by students overseen by a teacher-in- charge. the famous socities are Enactus Srcc, NSS SRCC, HPS SRCC, CDF, SRCRC, DELTA SRCC, DEBSOC, HSS SRCC, FAS,ELS, BOOK CLUB etc dealing in social entreprenership, volunteership, MUN, debating etc.
Admission
The admission process for undergraduate programs in University of Delhi has undergone a significant change since 2022. The CUET-UG is the gateway for admission conducted by NTA. The Paper COmbination for BA(Honours Economics is any Language from List A, along with Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, and any two subjects, one of which should be from List B1. The seat allocation process is done through Common Admission Portal of Delhi Unversity using CUET UG score and to get BA(H) Economics in SRCC a score of 680+ is neccessary. The reservations for various categories is OBC NCL- 27%, ST-7.5%,SC-15% and 10% for EWS. Along with this there are seats reserved under sports, NCC, Kashmiri Migrant, Children/Widows of Armed Forces(CW) Quotas.
