An Out of campus gem

Overall the college is a gem, being an out of campus college it provides a student with all the facilities which a north campus college can, from the high tension politics to big relaxing grounds, to happening societies, to big fests and to the latest infrastructure, each and everything is in par competence with north campus colleges.

In the summers of 2015 after giving my 12th standard exam I started preparing for the entrance exam of BBE,BFIA and BMS which is a common entrance exam. Although I wasn't able to score much but any how managed to get enough marks in entrance that I landed up in one of the best BBE college in DU. My score was 189 which was enough as per my 12th scores because I scored well there. I opted for this college because of its best in class infrastructure and well connectivity for the the means of transport also I got the chance to interact with the faculty at the time of counselling which helped me choosing the Shivaji college over other options available.

The course curriculum was revised when I got admission in the course and as per new CBCS pattern the curriculum is more advanced and realistic and helps the students to connect to the real life economic situations and scenarios and understand the concepts better and gain some skills regarding subjects like data analytics also.

Yes, Shivaji college has an active placement cell and they keep searching out for the opportunities for the students of the college and try to provide them the best internship opportunities available in their field. Also, an internship fair is organized for the students so that they can interact with the employers and get to know more about the job profile and the company itself. The average stipend is around 5000-6000 for internships and most of the students feel very confident after such internships as they get the clarity of mind that which field is best for them and where they should pursue their career

Placement and job opportunities are also very good in the college. Companies like RBS, IDFC, Genpact,IBM and pwc visit campus to provide job opportunity to the students. Although most of the students take a year break for preparation of MBA or civil service entrances or they pursue their masters directly but those who are placed they get an average package of 350000 p.a.

The college life here is very happening because college celebrated each and every festival with full preparations and joy. Specially festivals like teej, diwali and holi are celebrated at a very grand scale. The college is decorated with the ribbons and hangings. Also the stalls are set up in the college serving lip smacking food and fun games.

The fees for my course i.e. BBE is quite expensive if we compare it with other courses offered in the college but if we compare it with other BBE colleges it's quite feasible and people with different backgrounds can afford the fee because scholarships are also offered to the students who are financially weak.

Yes scholarship is provided to the students who are financially weak, although such scholarships are limited to 4-5. There is no need to take loans for the fee as the fees is very affordable for almost all the courses provided by the college . So no loan facility is provided by the college.

Campus life is very happening and one can enjoy the different competitions and events which keeps on happening every other day on different topics and themes. The college societies are also very active and students can entertain themselves by watching these societies rehearse and perform. The gender ratio of the college is 3:2 for men:women. Also there is a lot of diversity in the college as people come from various family backgrounds and from different regions especially from dates like UP and Assam. College also organises an annual sports fest for the students as well as faculty and make a balance of studies and sports

There is no hostel facility provided by the college but there are a large no. of pg's available near the college campus which is quite affordable also. The average rate per person for a PG is 4000-5000 per month. And the pgs provided at this rate is very well maintained and are provided with all the basic facilities like electricity, water supply and sometimes AC as well. Tiffin service is also available in the area which offers a good quality food at 40-60 rupees per tiffin.

The alumni of my department particularly are very helpful and try to provide all the expert advice whenever required and give us the opportunities like internships and job interview chance in big companies which students aspire for

Exams are taken just like in any other college in Delhi University on the semester basis. Although internals are not so frequent but yeah when the internals start the students start feeling the days very hectic. Also the labs are one of the hectic thing which is generally in one or two semesters in all.

As I described above the admission to the BBE course is through an entrance exam called DU JAT, in this exam I scored 189 and on the basis of entrance score and my 12th standard scores I got the admission into this college. Although before choosing this college I was given a choice of various colleges where seats were available and all this process is carried out at the time of counselling. After the counselling I just visited the college and the whole admission procedure got completed with few hours with the help of teachers and helping nature of admission department.

The faculty of the college is very helpful and extremely qualified and the staff is very young and energetic which helps students as well as faculty to connect with each other well. Also, the faculty always tries to teach by adopting new methods and try to connect the theories with the live and practical examples which makes learning more fun and interactive
