Likes
- Shivaji College of DU is perhaps the only college where there is no attendance issue.
- Our college too has many prominent societies and nearly 60-80 students are involved in each of the society.
- Garden and plants or rather nursery of our college is the best place to get some fresh air in an otherwise polluted Delhi.
Dislikes
- Placements are quite poor at our college as hardly 10-15% studnets are being placed from our campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
English Hons was because I missed out on the subjects I wanted and from the available that were there this was the best possible branch available. Our course is excellent and it goes without saying that we have to work hard as it's not a college course but course assigned by DU.
Internships Opportunities
Bharti Airtel, Icici Prudential and some more are among the companies that offered Internships via a small interview. Only a few though were picked and lucky to be one of them. Stipend offered was 7.5k and it was a 5 weeks internships.
Placement Experience
Placements aren't that good but some do get it as it's not that comapnies don't come. Some of them which do hired the students who are exceptional. In big names that have come to our campus for hiring includes Bajaj Capital and Airtel.
Fees and Financial Aid
Shivaji College of DU is one of the best built college and fees is also lowest. For BA English Hons we are supposed to pay just 20000 in all. It's definitely the lowest in an otherwise low fees structure as DU is arguably the best when it comes to fees structure.
Campus Life
Our college definitely not so big but still a sports stadium is what we have at our campus. There are currently two blocks and a third one is getting ready. We also have innumerable events and all as students council here encourage a lot of things. Our annual fest Vibrations is also something which not many probably know is one of the largest fests in Delhi University.
Admission
Admission are through UG CUET and a score of 600-620 our of 800 is usually the cut-off for Shivaji College, Delhi. My frist choice was the Hindu College but I got admission in DU was itself a big win for me. As I didn't expect to make it as Shivaji is among the lowest ranked colleges of DU.
Faculty
Before students it's the faculties who have upgraded themselves and that's the best part of faculties. Yes some of them are a little old and therefore it was inevitable for them and luckily they haven't hesitated. Our professor Arjun Saini is indeed the good old man and crowds favourite as well.
Night Life
We have a sports stadium at our campus and it is opened for us till 6 pm. Nearby hangout places are plenty and one such is for sure Garden of Five Senses. Metro Station is also not so far and Museum of Illusions is one place where students of Shivaji often find themselves.
