Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose Mechanical Engineering here because I had an interest in how machines operate and to learn different technologies. I have no regrets regarding my Branch, I left NSUT Instrumentation and Control Engineering for NIT-J Mechanical Engineering. The Faculty: Student ratio is 1:10, Faculty to Student ratio is good, Teachers are best here Professors are highly qualified with PhDs from IITs and other Top Universities. Most of the Faculties are Assistant Professors We have a Mid Semester exam and an End Semester Exam during a Semester. Exams are not that easy to score, studying just before 1 night and getting passed is like a joke, it only happens in movies. Teachers gave us very low marks even after trying our best in Exams, for 1-1 marks also we had to beg to teachers, it's very tough sometimes.

Internships Opportunities

4

Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Sprinkler, Goldman Sachs, Jp Morgan Stanley, Tata Motors, Mahindra and many companies, there are alot of on-campus opportunities provided. The Training and Placement Department is very hardworking, if a student is hardworking then grabbing a placement is not a tough task for him/her.

In the 2nd and 3rd year, we get 2 seater rooms in Mega hostels and in 4th year we get single seater rooms. Mess and Food quality is above average as compared to other NITs, as it is in Punjab where food quality is a priority.

Admission

As NIT Jalandhar is a National College, so for getting admission at here a person from general should score around 95 percentile in the JEE Mains Examination and further Counseling process is done via the JOSAA and CSAB. After I got to this college, a date will be given on which we have to do physical reporting at the institute. All the mentioned documents are verified physically and the Student should have the required documents for a smooth admission process. After verification and complete fee payment, our hostels are allocated via an online choosing system of hostel rooms.

Other Applied Colleges

Netaji Subhas University of Technology - [NSUT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Instrumentation & Control Engineering)

I got this course and I left it because I had an option of NIT,which had very less fees as compared with NSUT.NSUT would cost me arount 15 Lakhs for a 4 year B.Tech Program.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
