Course Curriculum Overview

Actually,From my Childhood I love to see the aquariums and ornamental fishes so my dream is to become an aquaculturist and solve the problem of fish farmer . Fishery is also a sunrise sector in India .If we use our country's wetlands, reservoirs properly then it's very easy to reduce the food scarcity and malnutrition. Faculty is very good having well educated, helpful and cooperative teachers . Laboratories is also good, lots of chemical and instruments available for practical. There are 44 students in one year class . Faculty have lots of educated teachers, students and researchers. Most of the teachers are phd passed. In our faculty there are lots of research projects are done like fish preservation methods, intensive, semi intensive farming, electro fishing etc.Teaching methods are also good teachers teach us through projectors and PPT slides. Exams are taken at the interval of 6 months. In one semester we have to pass both mid term and end term exam. The question is moderate level.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total semester cost is 9810/- .For the hostellers extra mess bill have to be paid and it is also very cheap. In our Faculty students can apply SVMCM,ICAR JRF,ICAR SRF scholarships.University scholarship is also available for the meritorious students. After passing out the BFSc degree various govt jobs like FEO, Afo in Banking sector is available.Company placements is also available like Godrej agrovet,CP etc.

Annual fest like Annual sports, agri unifest occurs every year.Fish fair is also conducted in every year.In this fair various kinds of fish products are displayed. There are lots of books available in the library like K.K balachandran ,Lata Shenoy,S.S khannna ,ICAR hand book of fisheries etc and also the research journal is also available in the library. E library facility is also available for the students. In our Faculty there are both digital and traditional classrooms available. Almost every classroom have projectors. Various kinds of sports like cricket, volleyball, Football, Table tennis and badminton are played in the faculty. Social groups like Red ribbon club, drama club is run by students.

Admission

I have applied through my higher secondary marks, and I had come to know from press medium. Here admission process is very good. First the university release the student merit list on the basis of their marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English apart from this reservation benefits also there which is very helpful for the students who need this in our college their are 8 seats for SC candidates, 8 For OBC -B and 4 for OBC - A ,3 for ST candidates and 2 for PH challenged and 7 for ICAR quota . In our college there is no quota for EWS candidates. So I think, there must be atleast 10% quota for EWS candidates who actually belong to economical weaker sections.

It's not fixed at all. Placement is in the hands of the HOD of various departments. After a bachelor's degree students can easily afford on or off-campus with 3-4LPA. After my bachelor's degree, my personal plan is to complete MFSc as after the completion of my post-graduate job profile would be higher than BFSc.

Being a professional course as it is, the main goal is to train and create entrepreneurs who pioneer in the art of Pisciculture, its administration and management. Students can also apply for Government jobs, or participate in government funded projects in central research institutes, furthermore they can sought for higher education and research themselves, Choose teaching as their profession, and also seek a position in private fishing industries that are based generally on the culture and post harvesting, which is a highly profitable scope as well. Recruiters generally come towards the last semester in the final year. And students are eligible to apply from the (4rth year) final year itself. Almost all students are placed. I completed my master's from here from the Department of Fisheries Engineering and Technology and on completion am seeking opportunities for a PhD.

The companies that visit here are CP, Biostadt etc. The faculty is planning to open a recruitment cell for regular campusing.

Remarks:

College management committee has done an excellent work in maintaining the integrity of thr campus. With fewer student density, the association among the students and teachers had been a blessing. Not to worry about non academic staffs are helpful in their own ways giving this campus a glossy look.
