Likes

One of the very few agriculture University to have placement cell.
The availability of agricultural lands and fields.
The professors are good in their respective jobs.

Dislikes

Food quality sometimes deteriorates and sometimes it's good .
The university have severe loadshedding issues in summer and doesn't have generators

Course Curriculum Overview

Agriculture is a vast subject and has multiple scopes from primary sectors to service sectors and students can go in about any field from it. The male: female is almost 1. The faculty is highly qualified and great facilities are also available. The exams are also timely taken. One mid-term and one end-term each semester. The exams are good to evaluate as you'll get marks according to how you've studied.

Class Size: 120Course Fees: INR 120000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Bckv is a government University so the fees are quite affordable and the hike is recently high but it should settle down next session. Students can get any merit-based or reservation-based scholarships but University doesn't provide any extra scholarships.

Campus Life

The annual fest is called naihrit and is conducted in winter, especially in December or January. The library is one of the biggest agriculture-based books libraries in India and there are other books and journals also that one can opt for. Annual sports competition is also held each year in the months of Jan or Feb. One may go for agri fest to combat for their skills like drawing dancing etc.

Admission

Higher Secondary passed with more than 55% marks for the general category and different for other categories. Application form is released about 1 month after the release of Higher secondary results and the application fees changes every year. Reservation benefits can be seen on the back website which also slightly differs each year. The admission process is quite alright and there's a little space for improvement.

I chose this subject because competition for job in this sector is not so high. It's easy to get a job after complete this course. As I say earlier semester examinations are the main examination. The examination is not so hard.

Something is better than nothing

Course Curriculum Overview:

Seat limit has been decreased into a little amount.So, getting chance is more difficult .there are 3 faculties agriculture, horticulture, agriculture engineering.In agriculture faculty so many departments are there ,but seat limit is less.In total seat,80%is for domicile students of West Bengal and 20%for icar accredited university students.In that 80% 70% for university home students and 10% for rest of the domicile students.

The exam was divided into 3 parts I.e 1st mock (15) marks,2nd mock(15 mark) and then final (50mark) and rest 20 mark as practiCal and field work.the students who do class regularly,is easy to pass because teachers are awesome..but if anyone miss class then it's hard to understand by reading books. The guard during exam is too hard..so those students who read concentrately are passed easily .. and those who don't read whole year and only read exam night they failed..

BCKV, a place to cherish forever.

You have to secure good percentage in Higher Secondary and clear the cutoff (More than 90%) to get into UG. You have to clear cutoff of University exams to get into PG/PhD. Eligibility is 12th with P+C+B or vocational with related subjects from any board. Students can also get admission from ICAR AIEEA (UG) exam. Application forms are available on the official website of the university ( https://bckv.edu.in ) when the application portal is opened. The date varies from time to time, generally, the application starts after the result of the 12th board exam is published. Yes, there are reservations for SC ST OBC students, General EWS students also get the benefit of reservation. In each semester there is one midterm one practical evaluation and one final end term for each course in a semester. Difficulty level is moderate.
