Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is student-friendly. The students have access to the Mac Lab and Media Lab, there is also a departmental library. Though the infrastructure is not great, the faculty members still try their best to help the students in any way possible, by arranging many workshops and seminars. The focus is generally on developing academic and research aptitudes in students alongside helping them develop technical skills with limited facilities.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure - First year - 26000, Second year- 19000. There is a provision for getting need-based financial assistance out of the student aid fund of the university subject to the consideration of the administrative body. But there are no campus jobs. And other state government and central government scholarships can be availed under certain conditions as mentioned on the government website of the scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

There is a book club and a film club initiated by our department. There are potlucks arranged by our faculty members and students. University-wide celebrations of festivals(uthsavs), happen throughout the year.

Admission

The admission process was easy and hassle-free. There was an entrance exam for admission to the Masters course. Since this happened during the lockdown, the entrance exam was conducted online. In the first stage, there were 50 MCQ questions that were sent online. The cutoff for qualifying for the next round was 40%, there was an interview over a Zoom call and at the end of these two stages, aggregate marks were published for each candidate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen the course because it was my passion to serve for democracy being the fourth pillar of it. There were 4 faculty members in total and 40 students. The faculty members came from different universities. Our HOD Dr Mausumi Bhattacharya has completed her Post Doctoral fellowship from ICSSR. The exams were held twice a year based on the semester system. They were quite moderate.
