Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum consists of classroom lectures, practical exercises,film screening, interaction with professional workshops are some parts of how our syllabus is teached to us by our institute. We have cbcs pattern in which whole course is divided into 6 semesters.

Placement Experience

SRFTI gives a biggest placements nos and in all the students majority of them are successfully and properly working in best as well as leading film houses and studios with basic package of 10-13 lacs all over the India.

College Events

Students here enjoys every types of events any institute can have. Different cultures of West Bengal can be seen inside the campus with all its colours... Annual days, Fresher's day,alumni day are some of the prestigious events happen here.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I did my post graduation from our college with three years time period and my total fee for one semester was something forty two thousand. Every facility was included into this except the hostel. I need to pay this fee after every six months.

Campus Life

This institute is having plenty of functions and activities for us students. Short movies,fests,film festivals, advertisement is some of the activities I have seen here till this moment... Screenings of many movies too take place here

Alumni/Alumna

There are 1000s of ex students working in various parts of film and studio lines.. This college is very well in maintaining warm and friendly contacts with every one of them... Every year we have alumni day to celebrate the success of our alumnis.

Admission

Students are selected here on the basis of two processes scores, first is JET .I.e., joint entrance test which is nationally administered and another one is interview..... SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES get direct letters from the institute.

Faculty

There are lots of professors inside our campus for us. Student teacher ratio is something 50:1.. for fifty students there is one teacher... Every student gets equal attention from the faculty. Every faculty here is the top rated teacher.

Likes

The faculty is very good and helpful as well as supportive. With every hands on experience on media studies and practicals with the department media lab. Also included many Industry Visits like Doordarshan and AIR, santiniketan.
The department feels like a family. All the teachers as well as the Research scholars are very supportive and engaging. Also included mentorship opportunity with industry professionals with Seminar Lectures.
The Greatest strength is the huge campus, spread across the whole town with lots of trees and fields. There are open study spaces and well equipped Library with Online library as well. The Campus is well equipped with Campus Wifi

Dislikes

The Media Lab of the Department needs to be more updated with Modern equipments and gears. Our Lab does not have the proper equipments.
The course trends to prepare students more into academic fields and research than actual industry or corporate training
Basic amenities like Drinking water and clean toilets lack in the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus of the course is pretty nice with diversified subjects alsong with specialization subjects in the 3rd and 4th semester. Some compulsory subjects include Tagore Studies and Basics of Communication. The course also includes Development Communication, Online media, Journalism, Gender studies, Advanced Audio Visual Production. The department is well equipped a mac lab but it only have 5 macs. The curriculum also includes Design, UIUX, Graphics design etc, and the curriculum is continuously updating with moden media teachings. The curriculum mostly prepare us for Academic Purposes than Industry.

VBU at a glance

Likes

The campus was very safe and surrounded by greenery.
There's a Central library where there's a huge stock of books and journals
The faculty were very good and was friendly towards the students.

Dislikes

Lack of maintenance of media laboratory.
Lack of practical in hand workshops for cinematography.
Lack of proper software for page design and editing

The placement process is not that regular in our department but they guide us and accordingly, the student with good merit can achieve the required vacancy wherever they want. The Department promotes our works and ideas to the outer world and through which we get the strength to build our confidence. The Department basically stands as a backbone to our choices.

Admission:

The college holds its own entrance test. A merit list comes out of the students who qualify in the entrance exam on the college website. These students then have to go for the interview round which happens in the college campus. I got selected and gave the interview which went pretty good. Then I got a mail as the offer letter for admission into the college.

Placement Experience:

No, it's a government institute they don't provide any placements. Yes though some of the private company gave the chance that is for very few students and not may companies visited actually.
