Night life at IIT Roorkee is beautiful and calm.
I liked that the campus is very green and clean, it is regularly maintained.
Peer group here is excellent. Everybody is talented.

Dislikes

I don't like the fact that the environment is competitive.
We have relative grading, so we have to perform better than others.
I dont like that the few professors are careless about their course.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course is chemical engineering. I had an interest in physics, and also chemical engineering deals with scaling aspects of chemistry. This intrigues me. The faculty here at IIT Roorkee is very good. They have good knowledge of their field.

Internships Opportunities

Google, Microsoft, Facebook / Meta, Goldman Sachs, quantbox, ITC, HUL., and a lot of top companies come to the IIT Roorkee campus to take 3rd-year students. But these companies do not take a lot of students, so few deserving students do not get the chance.

Placement Experience

We are eligible to sit for campus placements in 4th year. around 300+ companies come for campus placements. And almost all the students get placed well. The highest package is around 2-3 crores every year. 100% of students get placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee at IIT Roorkee is 1 lakh per semester. This is for general-category students. Other than this, the hostel and mess fee is around 50,000 per semester. EWS and SC/ST students get a full fee waiver on tuition fees, they have to apply on the institute portal for that.

Campus Life

Campus life at IIT Roorkee is very good. It has got good fest experiences. We have Thomso as a cultural fest, and Cognizance as a technical fest. Books and journals are available at the library. The library is one of the largest in India. Classrooms are equipped with modern teaching tools, projectors and centralised AC. Also, there are campus groups available in every field. Tech clubs are very active.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel is not as good as I expected. Because of the increase in the number of seats in IITs, there was less space for accommodation. We had to share a room with 2 other students. Mess food is average in first-year hostel. The registration process was okayish, it was long and tiring.

Hostel Fee: INR 100000 per year

Admission

IIT Roorkee gives admission on the basis of rank that I have got in JEE Advanced (Joint Entrance Exam). Then, I had to apply for seats in colleges on the JOSAA website. The process was relatively smooth.

GEU and CSE ho hand in hand!

Placement Experience:

LTI, Polaris, Deloitte, Infosys, Oracle, Nvidia and what not are there for placements here. Even the Fintech and finance companies like the Axis Bank, Shri Ram Capital Finance and all are here. Thus, placements worth 10-50 lakhs is quite possible at GEU.

Geu provides best intenrships!

Placement Experience:

In GEU placements are like such that we don't have to bother at all. We are approached by placements cell in the 5th semester and then are trained for the whole month and then university urges us to go for internships to have the required exposure and have a CV which can impress the recruiters first hand. Thus, we get placement which median as of now is 8.5 lakhs.

GEU has the best Placements!

Placement Experience:

McKinsey, Oracle, NVIDIA, Google, TCS, Deloitte and many more come here for placements. Around 15-20 students in 2025 had placements worth over 40 lakhs and four students managed to grab placements worth 50 lakhs or more.

The placements of the students in the college is satisfactory. This year the students of third year grabbed a placement of 18 LPA . Wipro and TCS visits the campus frequently. The highest package is of 43 LPA and the average stands at 6-7 LPA.. the percentage of the placements is nearly 90-95%..

I didnt applied for any other colleges other than some iits which were iit bombay, kanpur, roorkee, guwahati. Just these four and nothing because i got a decent rank in JEE Adv 2025. IIT ROORKEE - A SCRUPULOUS REVIEW

I took part in jossa councelling and got it . I was happy with any of seven old iits . In better way , i would be happy in going any top iit. Moreover i choose it because of it's weather and location. Rest all things are similar to all top iits. Nothing is less in iit roorkee. You have to give jee main then jee advanced. If you get good rank , you will get this college. You will have to get air under 5000 to get in iit roorkee or any top iit....Read More

1st year opinion of IIT Roorkee

I took admission from JEE (Main+Advance).Form could be found on NTA website. Some reservation benefits were , i got a bit higher brancher even though my rank was lower. Mains timing are morning shift and evening shift. As for advance it runs all day for 6 hours(with a break of 2 hour in between). Mains is easy , advance is a bit difficult....Read More
