1st year opinion of IIT Roorkee

I selected BSBE,because thats what i was getting on my rank. As for course , it good , pretty lightweighted , easy to get a good CGPA also good if you want to develop som other skills. As for core research , college provides good faculty and has good connections with foreign universities. Exam timings are mid Feb, then end of April . As for exam difficulty ,exams are difficult but if one start studying 2 weeks prior exam he/she could score good enough to have CGPA as 8+

Internships are available from 5th semster . Major internships are offered microsoft,adobe and many product based companies are also there for internships Generally ,internships are grabbed by circuital branches only .

Placements are generally good for circuital branches but as for lower branches either you have to go in core which is difficult(off campus it is easy , since you have a IIT tag) but non core placements are decents . From 7th semster one become capable for sitting in interviews. Highest package is around 2Cr as for average it ranges between 22-30 lpa Almost 100% students are placed except for those who with thier own startup or try for offcampus placements. My plans are for getting a MBA degree from IIM Ahmedabad or Banglore.

Fees for each semster is 1,38,300. It includes tution Fees as 1,00,000 and 38,300 for other charges(Mess, hostel, electricity etc.). Complete cost of education is 1121100 There are many scholarships offered in college like 1.For those with annual income< 1,00,000 No tuition fee 2.1,00,000 5,00,000 Full tuition fee

2 major fests are held every year 1.Cognizance(Mid March) 2.Thomso(Mid October) And 2 minor events 1.NSS summit(Feb) 2.E-Summit(Feb) Library is one of the best places in college it can accomodate huge no. of students and have a large collection of books Almost all books related to course are available in the library. Books related to exams like CAT, GATE etc. are also available Philosphical books , some interesting history books , all are available in our library Classes have a normal projector and a blackboard Sports facilities are also good for both who wanna play formally(with all rules and regulations) and for those who just want to play for sake of fun. There are a lots of club , categorize in three categories 1.Tech clubs(Most hyped ) PAG,SDS,MDG and many more related to CP and dev 2.Sports club 3.Cultural clubs Music section, DRAMs, fashsoc

As for rooms of first year they are not very bad but at the same time not very good 24*7 highspeed internet , clean washrooms(gets cleaned every day at 11AM), water filter at every floor Food is bad at some days but never have i ever eaten a good meal in mess . menu is mainly veg with generally north indian dishes , with some south indian dishes on Wednesday. Hostel charges are 25000 and process was included in academic registration

I took admission from JEE (Main+Advance).Form could be found on NTA website. Some reservation benefits were , i got a bit higher brancher even though my rank was lower. Mains timing are morning shift and evening shift. As for advance it runs all day for 6 hours(with a break of 2 hour in between). Mains is easy , advance is a bit difficult.

No GD, interview, or written test other than JEE. Admission was strictly based on 12th board marks, JEE Mains, and JEE Advanced rank. JEE Mains had MCQs and numerical questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Math. JEE Advanced was tougher, focused more on concepts and application-based problems. I prepared by solving past papers, mock tests, and sticking to coaching material. Final admission was done through JoSAA counseling based on JEE Advanced rank and college/branch preferences.
