Beware if you are going to choose NITJ.

We have 25 professors in our department. They all are extremely qualified except for some professors(2-3). I couldn't go for any circuital branch(except ICE) so took this, no special reason. Every prof has his own style of teaching. Passing the exams is a bit scary, as they put up a question paper which can be really hard. The faculty is passionate but lacks the resources in labs to demonstrate like in IITs where the labs are extravagant in comparison to ours. Anyone who is passionate about mechanical engg can consider this as one of the best options, but if you are considering working towards a tech role, it becomes really hectic to tackle academics and placement prep.

4th year onwards companies visit for placements. The placement situation is okay I guess, far better than private colleges. All the MAANG and reputed companies visit. The highest average is for CSE viz 16 lakhs and the average for mechanical is 9.8 lakhs. The highest package offered is 1.3 crores from amazon and Google offers 50-80 lakhs. In mechanical 100% of students are placed while for other branches it is available on the institute website.

Fees are quite stable here, with no rise or drop in a few years. This fee is one of the lowest and is even lesser than the IITs. The scholarship situation is tough but manageable. Ots like 88k-90k + 25k per semester

We have TechNITi, the tech fest and Utkansh, the cultural one. Both of them took place around March and April at a months gap. The library is spacious but cant fulfil the needs of all the students in terms of books. The lecture theatre is air conditioned and the departments of all circuital branches and CSE, IT etc. are also air-conditioned but the rest of the buildings are almost in ruins. There is a club for every need here, however, all are inactive.

Rooms are pretty basic, tall apartment buildings. All hostles for girls are newly made while boys hostels are just okay to live. The room registration process can make you cry as it is not managed nicely and its chaos everywhere. Mess food is just borderline edible, there are occasional reports of worms or insects in food, for both girls mess and boys mess.

Admission is through JEE Mains, and counselling is done online through JOSAA. The percentile should be around 96-97 for a general male candidate. The rank requirements for Mechanical here at NITJ is around 22000 to 46000 AIR.
