Remarks

As the campus lies in the beautiful city of Chandigarh so there are ample of places to explore nearby and you can also get good coaching for any exam which you want to prepare for further studies. Felt overall development of my personality and developed an interest in sports(particularly basketball).

Entrance Preview

During my time I wrote Jee Mains, Jee Advanced, BITSAT, VITEE and CBSE class 12 Board examination. I got admission to this college on basis of my AIR in JEE MAINS which was calculated using my jee main score and class 12 percentage during my time. There was no interview process which was followed as is the case with most of engineering colleges of India. My interest was in mechanics therefore I chose MECHANICAL Engineering and there are also opportunities available in government jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is not as expected. There is more cramming than understanding. No up-gradation of labs is done since a long time and Instructors are also not very good in practical teaching. Professors are working on various research projects. Funding is also provided by college for research. Minor specialization is available in Mechanical Engineering Drawing and Design, Applied Thermodynamics, Automobile Engineering. More focus on co curricular activities and less focus on technical societies.

Internships Opportunities

I am currently in 2nd year and internship is provided in 3rd year so I cannot provide proper information. But as I have heard internships are mainly available in IT or consultant companies. Average stipend is around 20000.

Placement Experience

4

Placement is quite good as compared to other colleges. Percentage of students placed are nearly 90%. Most of the placements are in IT or consultancy companies. Nearly 20% of students are placed in core companies except computer science students. Various companies include amazon, Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Goldman Sachs, etc Average package is around 5 lacks per annum.

College Events

4.5

Biggest fest organised is the PECFEST which is considered to be best in northern India. College authorities also contributes to fest plus students also do marketing for overall success of fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

PEC is a deemed university and in comparison to other colleges it is quite affordable. There are different bars of fees depending upon category under which you have secured the admission (like DASA, GENERAL, SC, ST or its different for B tech and M tech) As I belong to General category and is pursuing a B tech course therefore my fee structure is given below:- 58000 rupees per semester (8 semesters) with refundable security of 10000.

Fees and Financial Aid

College provides scholarships branch-wise i.e. Full fee waiver for 1 yr to branch rank openers , and Full fee waiver for 1 yr to branch topper every year.

Campus Life

4.5

If you want to excel in extracurricular then it is the place for you. As i mentioned before I got a platform to discover my inner strengths. Facilities are also there as funding is provided by college to various societies.

Hostel Facilities

4

I am residing in a hostel. Rooms are good but then also it depends upon person to person. If you are a DASA student then you may not like the rooms or I must say hostel at all. But myself being an Indian ,I know the condition of other colleges so it is fine for me. Coming to hostel charges , they are around 60000 for 1 yr with refundable security of 5000. But I find hostel quite expensive as compared to service they provide. Food is average and depends upon hostel to hostel as we have different mess contractors.

Alumni/Alumna

PECOSA is formed which looks after alumni relations and also various types of funding is also provided by students of different batch.

Exam Structure

As the duration of semester is less , this makes the schedule very tight (especially during 2nd year). But it was a chill culture during my 1st year.

Faculty

3.5

There is no special recruitment procedure for faculty. Local teachers are more preferred. Some professors are highly qualified and have a lots of experience. But in 1st year of course most faculty are the ones who are doing their PhD and have no teaching experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
