Remarks
The college is like getting a ticket to a ride.... u can either go on all the rides and come out satisfied or u can have ur ticket and wait for it to expire. (this quote is not mine but by one of our seniors) My ride has just started and I'm thankful to God for helping me choose the best one.
Entrance Preview
Nata exam- for architecture. It was a merit seat so i was basically congratulated on my success and welcomed to our college I had to meet the vice principal after my admission, but there was no interview before that.
Course Curriculum Overview
B Arch, its not easy, but good things don't cone easy.My course is only practical knowledge , theory is what we focus on the night before the exam. The college has encouraged me to do a startup of my own, I basically don't have confidence in myself, but by God's grace, I have really supportive seniors.
Internships Opportunities
No u have to find the internship on ur own. I haven't been to an internship yet, since I'm only in the second year(architecture). But i sure know its not very easy.
Placement Experience
For architecture, the last rank for merit seat is usually 150 and its in the 300s for SC/ ST. Our seniors basically try to get placed in the company they went for internship in their fourth year(I'm not sure about other branches this is only regarding architecture), but i heard the percentage of placements was about 40% bcz everyone tries to go for M Arch at the next stage
College Events
Well for starters there was Conjura, we tried bringing back a fest that was glorious 5 years ago and....we succeeded in that, with this emotion called magical unity. Then we had talks from professional architects (Ar Fahad-Kochi based architect, Ar Haritha-Kollam based architect who has received a lot of prizes) We had many workshops (mural painting, lead art). There were so many colleges from all over Kerala. It was the first years who went to every college in their district and canvassed as many colleges as possible. The college authorities supported us with all the decorations we did on the walls and ensured protection for us girls during the night.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees for the whole year is 8000 And some amount is collected at the beginning of every semester as ktu exam fees. I must admit I'm not exactly sure about the figures, but if I'm going to give a ballpark number... I would say 10000
Fees and Financial Aid
There are certain scholarships that are circulated amongst us, I don't know their names exactly, but i do know STEPS(an nss initiative based on our college) has agreed to pay fees for some economically backward students and there is always a special notice for the economically backward students.
Campus Life
There are many clubs in our college, it's hard not to find ur interests among them There's the music club- for the instrumentally and the vocally beautiful people The photography club -that gives the license to shoot (photos of course) in every event Iedc - for those engineers who think out of their books and for those euntrepreneurs at heart (and literally make an entrepreneur out of them) NSS - for those who want to spend time with all kinds of levels and people in the society UNAI -That aims to provide a great impact on society out of education(United Nations Academic Impact) Film and Drama Club- For those who are actors for the experience..... I guess this is all that i can think of. The faculties encourage us for the same but not too much as education is always their first preference
Hostel Facilities
Working Womens Hostel, KaricodeWe have 6 ppl in one room. I think there are a majority of rooms with 4 people in one Yes there are PGs About 3500 a monthThe food is nothing compared to my mom's cooking but much better than my brother's. The food is actually good, my friends from other hostels always tell us how good the food is.
Alumni/Alumna
I've only talked to one of the alumnis and that's because I've been added to the group for all the alumnis(almost) in our college. The alumni are awesome(I don't know how else i can describe them). They provide first preference for our students in case of internships and they support us economically for all the advancements in our college.
Exam Structure
Exams are hard, but that is our fault basically, because we study the night before the exam. And i think its good its hard , because it gives us the chill to study instead of being lazy
Faculty
All our senior staff members have a phd and are locally famous in their professions as well. Our teachers are also super qualified and have a masters in some degree or the other. Our course requires practical knowledge.so we need as many field visits we can (though ktu has limited our time for such activities) yet our teachers encourage us and support us throughout the way. Both academically and emotionally. Most of our teachers give us notes ,despite us being in college, and they encourage us to read explore more about things. They have helped us create a new perspective on things.I'm very thankful to my teachers for that. So out of 10 I would give an 11
