Remarks

There is very little scope for complaint regarding this college. That is not worth mentioning here. But anyone seeking quality education in a wonderful environment, there this college is perhaps the best place one can consider.

Entrance Preview

I had applied for JU Kolkata for studying Philosophy. Even after successfully cracking the entrance I could not join JU because for family reasons. My second choice was Studying English literature. The place where I live has a number of Govt colleges but none of them tickled my fancy. Expect North Bengal St. Xavier's college, which is very reputed for it's English faculty. Thus I went to take admission in that college, which is a Jesuit institution with wonderful environment and amiable staff. In this college I was admitted on the basis of merit. Amidst the tantalizing tea gardens, we here at NBSXC celebrate the most awe inspiring occasion of life that is Education.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

This college under the North Bengal University offers a number of courses. English literature is the best for me. The faculty members are excellent. There are not many institution who take care of students as much as this college does. The curriculum for me is very complete. In electives we were give choice for Political Science, History, Education, Geography (for BSc) and sociology. I took Education and sociology as my electives. The assistant professors of this college are wonderful.

Internships Opportunities

No. As per as my knowledge, our college does not provides internship.

Placement Experience

0.5

Being an only under graduate institution, this college has no placement records from campus.

College Events

4.5

In our college there are a number of events that are being celebrated throughout the year. The college day is celebrated with glory followed by other events that honors students upon getting good marks. There are value education and religious classes (without forcing at all) carried weekly. There are other events too that take place occasionally in various departments like self- defense classes for girls, Pottery work shop, spoken English classes and a number of others.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the college is feasible. There is quarterly deposit system. There is also support for needy students upon request. Payment in college campus as well as partnered banks are available, making it more convenient.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't have any idea regarding any loan facility if available, but I surely know that the institution approaches with a helping hand to needy students financially. Upon meeting the criteria a needy student can derive financial support from the college.

Campus Life

4.5

As I have mentioned in the title of the review. We study in a campus that is green dominant. Surrounded by tantalizing tea gardens we are in the refreshing hue to green every time. The overly quite environment makes studying a joy. The great library in the college is like a treasure trunk. With a huge field in front of the building, there are ample of space for students to relish the beauty of nature. The classes are thoughtfully divided across different departments so that students are not exhausted. We in the college campus share a very unique bonding. Each and every students even from other departments know each other as everyone happen to pass from the same corridor. There is a perfect balance of gender ratio with girls slightly edging boys. Ragging in this college campus is next to impossible. Students of different race, cast, religion come and seek education here in one of the three Jesuit institution of North Bengal. The college overflows with positive energy from the seamless fusion of diversity.

Hostel Facilities

5

I am a regular student so won't be able to tell much about hostel or mess. But as per as my knowledge they are also as good as that of the college. The college mantained hostel is very good and there are a number of local hostels around the college for students to opt for.

Alumni/Alumna

Of course the seniors are very very helpful. They have a very positive attitude towards the Juniors. There are many alumna who are now professors in this college.

Exam Structure

NBSXC under University of North Bengal runs on 1+1+1 examination system. Though the college locally organises many unit and mock tests to hone up students skills and prepare then for University examination.

Admission

There was a publication of merit list in the college after applying for admission and submitting the documents. The list was published after a week accordingly in the sequence of merit calculated in best of four subject. After the merit list publication of the name is enlisted, the student shall go to the college for admission procedure. There, during the admission procedure is a short interview as well as counselling session between students and parents.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is extremely good. They take care of individual students. Their first priority is to help the students with their lessons. No matter how many times a student approach to the professors with doubts, they guide without a second thought or complain. A lot of extra curricular activities are carried in the college. Games and social work to name a few. Under the guidance of professors, each and every students are engaged in some or the other activities. The quality of the Education imparted is top notch. The department of sociology from North Bengal St. Xavier's college comes with a gold medal nearly every year. Departmental Seminars and other programs are tightly packed in the schedule of the students of every department.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Mere collage The exam level is basically hard and exams are conducted twice a year.

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.
