Remarks
My university is average in everything. People are doing good here. Many of its alumnus are in very good law firms or company, some have cracked civil services, some have judicial services, some have done or are doing their P.G from very good colleges in the world like Harvard, NUS etc. So we can see it as a good investment by taking admission here.
Entrance Preview
C.L.A.T was the entrance examination.Full form is Common Law Admission Test. It is the admission process for around 16 National Law University's in India. I got 71.5 marks with a rank of 3244 in 2015 when i first time appeared for it and in the second time in 2016 i took admission with a rank of 690 and 144.25 marks out of 200. I opted for this college , firstly i wanted to take a college outside my state(my state is U.P and my college is in Chhattisgarh) , secondly it's not totally on you to get a good college because it's the cut-offs of every college which decides this and lastly my college comes under Tier-II NLU's and have a very good reputation. So this is the reason why i took admission here.
Course Curriculum Overview
I think it is one of the best professional course in India. Here you get opportunity to participate in Model United Nations, Youth Parliament, Moot court competitions and many more extra curricular activities which helps in personality development and strengthen your CV. My course is like integrated course of Bachelor of Arts+Bachelor of Law, so first three semester Arts subjects with one or two law subjects and after third sem only one Arts subject left with us with all the law subjects. And it is a fun to study law subjects. After completing this course you have a good chance to get placed in a law firm or any private company, you can join litigation, you can go for LL.M from one of the top colleges in the world, you can also go for judiciary exams or civil services. So you will get various options to look out.
Internships Opportunities
I haven't noticed it yet they just give bonafide and recommendation letter. But the student body here is working to provide internships by reaching alumnus and various companies.
Placement Experience
The placement is average. Many students got placed in law firms like Amarchand and Mangaldas, Khaitan & Co, Singh associates, AZB & Partners, J Sagar Associates, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices and many more. Here many people also get placed in Chhattisgarh Mantralaya. Many opt for litigation in their state courts or Supreme Court. The package details is not disclosed by my university.
College Events
There are many events celebrated in my college like the best one is my college fest COLOSSUS. In COLOSSUS there are many events happened like sports competition (cricket, badminton, football, chess, carom, kabaddi,100m race, volleyball, basketball), plays, nukkad natak and many more. In cultural they organised desi day, garba night, DJ night, shayari and mushayara. It also organised Model United Nations, Youth Parliament and Moot Court Competitions. there is also a debate society in the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yeah there is a scholarship available for Chhattisgarh's SC&ST students. And for general student i have no idea.
Campus Life
The campus life is decent. Rules and regulations are not so hard. Students here comes from all over India from Kashmir to Kerala and Rajasthan to Meghalaya, so it's like a little India, we come to know about various cultures from the students they belong to. Gender ratio is good, like in my batch there is 90:75. You will get time here to participate in various extra curricular activities like Moot Competitions, Debates, Colleges fest, Sports fest, Drama Competition etc. We can also write research papers, journals. There are guest lectures conducted by the university and workshops on various subjects. There are many committees like cultural committee, Moot court committee, sports committee, mess committee, HoR committee etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities and mess food is average. It's a fully residential college so you need not to bother about PG's and private hostels but yeah you need these things when you face suspension from the hostel. The hostel facility for freshers is very good, you get a separate building, 2 students sharing a room, WiFi facilities, common room. And from the 2nd year you get your own single room with sharing balcony. Unlike most of the colleges in which mess food is pathetic, this college has some plus points sometimes the food is too good sometimes very bad, sometimes breakfast is bad but the lunch is good, . So all we need is to manage ourselves among the 4 time food in a day. There is a canteen and cafeteria which has a monopoly in the college but we can also get our food delivered to our college from nearby dhaba anytime.
Alumni/Alumna
It's my third sem so i can't say much about it. But as far as i know and i heard many people get their internship through alumni network. So alumni network is good many of the alumni are very helpful. In case of senior students, some are very good like they will help you in all possible manners like mooting, debating etc. Some are like your brothers or friends. Some shows too much seniority that they do not get any respect from their juniors. So every type of people are here. All you need is to talk to your seniors, take help, do not be shy otherwise you will face many problems like how to moot, how to prepare a memo, how to write answers in paper of different teachers.
Exam Structure
Exam is of total 100 marks which happens in 4 parts. First the mid sem of 20 marks happen then assignments of 10 marks and viva of 10 marks and in the end final paper of 60 marks. The mid sem is of 1.30 hours and end sem is of 3 hour, the viva and assignments depends on teacher but it is not very hectic. Many people study the whole syllabus just 1 week before the exam and get passed with good marks. In the mid sem paper consists 3 questions in which you have to attempt only 2 and in the end sem paper consists 7 questions in which 5 should be attempted with 1st one is mandatory.
Faculty
It was not that good when i was in first year but as we all know "change is the law of nature" it is getting better. New teachers are getting recruited and they are good too. Sometimes it happens like a teacher who has done PhD in a single particular subject but he or she is teaching two subjects at a time, so it really got bad. Apart from this all the faculty is very good, friendly and helpful. Some have good knowledge in their subjects as well as good way of teaching. Some have only good knowledge. But as for a law student, debate is also a very important thing and teachers also conduct debates in the class, so that's a good thing.
