Remarks

Overall, the college is really good and it is upon you how you want to make the best out of the innumerable opportunities available. I believe the faculty can get better and more professionals can be recruited to teach. The mess facility was bad but with the new Vice Chancellor in our college, things are starting to get better. We also have juice shops, laundry services, AMUL, fast food centres and salons in our college itself. The library is huge and has access to all kinds of material we might need. Otherwise, the library is always open to suggestions on what the students need.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is quite fair with an equal balance to academic as well as practical knowledge. We have two semesters every year and around 3 month break every year. In every break, we are suggested to intern under someone`s guidance to understand law better and in a more practical manner. Such internships also let students secure pre-placement offers. The exam structure consists of 60% weightage to end semesters and 20% weightage to mid semesters. Along with that 20% weightage goes to projects, PPTs and Vivas.

Placement Experience

4

There are internship and recruitment committees in college which help you secure internships as well a placements after a CV evaluation or interview session. I have secured internship at law firms like Aeson legal and Advocates through my college committee. Otherwise, you can always apply on your own and I did the same to do internships at Vinod Mistry and Co, RSLSA etc. Various big law firms come for placements in our college. AZB, Khaitan, ICICI Bank are some of the many top recruiters.

College Events

4

Our cultural committee works hard to celebrate every festival in the best way possible. We also have an annual college fest and MUN. We organize a moot court competition every year. Along with that, dance and music events along with dramas and plays keep on happening every 2 months or so.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For every year, we pay Rs 1,50,000 as our complete fees, including college, hostel, transportation, internet, etc. Along with that, we pay around 14000 every semester for our mess fees. All payment modes are acceptable but usually students pay via a demand draft. Online payment mechanisms are also provided. A caution money of Rs 25000 in a one time payment on admission which shall be repaid after you pass out. There is complete transparency in fee breakdown with all details specifically available at hnlu.ac.in.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. College offers scholarship but I did not fit in the criteria. It was provided for reserved category students, to my knowledge.

Campus Life

4

The campus is beautiful and really big. We have 2 academic blocks, a utility centre, lakeside at the back, and huge grounds for cricket and other sports. The gender ratio is perfect since 50 per cent of the overall seats are reserved for women. Along with that, seats are reserved for State candidates and other categories. The students come from all over India with diverse ideas and cultures. Debates and group discussions on contemporary law issues keep happening every week or so. Sports events are also frequent. We have an annual cricket competition and students keep participating in different colleges` events. The football team has also secured various trophies. Moot court competitions have also brought several accolades to the college. There is no such discrimination towards any person with whatever role they play in college. Due recognition is given by students to everyone`s personality and choices.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes. There is a two room sharing in the first year. However, we have single rooms for everyone from the second year to fifth year. The hostel facility is compulsory and everyone has access to it. The rooms are small but well-facilitated with enough space for your basic necessities. The mess is also nearby so there is less difficulty for availing food.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the alumni network is pretty okay and they help us through video lectures and provide knowledge on where to intern and what to explore.

Admission

Once you give your CLAT paper (happens usually around mid-may), the authorities send you a notification through which you receive your All India Ranks (happens usually around June-end). You can guess your college as per your rank. Avoid the guesswork. Have patience. You will then receive further notification regarding your allotment of college on the basis of your rank. You could either finalize the option and pay some amount or click on the option of updating. If you are really sure about up-gradation, then go for it. As per your rank, your college might get upgraded. It may show the same college in the next list which comes after a week or so. There are such 3 to 5 lists. After the final list, you need to report to the college with notified documents and of course, the fees. They will give you a visit around the campus and hostel rooms. And then you just need to report with your heavy bags to the college allotted.

Faculty

3

We have classes 5 days a week for 6 hours everyday from 8AM to 2:30PM. In between, we get a free break for 30 mins after 3 classes. We have Assistant Professors and Professors and many guest professionals keep coming to the college to give an insight towards the current developments. The faculty is decent. I believe better faculty can be provided. However, law is a subject which very much depends on how you study it. Online courses are also provided by the college. The Professors hold Ph.D degree and thus are very well-qualified.

Almost everything I describe by giving all the answers but one thing I could say in my point of view is that my college which is Guru Ghasidas University is a Central University. Being Central University is a positive tag. Two important negative points for my University is that number 1 lack of infrastructure, 2 lack of permanent teachers or faculties. but still university try to work well in between their limited resources which sometime cause difficulties to the student because the above mentioned 2 negative points are very basic need of any institution.
