Course Curriculum Overview
The courses offered by PES University are more or less similar to the courses offered by other universities too. But here at PESU, the curriculum differs, which is mostly application-oriented, which attracts many students towards it. This method of teaching improves the industrial and work knowledge of the students. The faculty to student ratio is 1:20. Most of the faculty here are phd holders and few of them pursuing their phd. The Examination system at PESU is very systematic. The students are given Internal Assesments every 2 weeks once, based on the syllabus completed in the previous weeks. After the completion of Internal assessments, Students have a Final examination.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers the students various scholarships based on their performance in the previous semesters. A few of them are: MRD scholarship, CNR Rao scholarship, DAC scholarship, Such scholarships encourage students to study hard and score well on exams. Financial assistance for the students is also given by the government. Placements at the campus are very good.
Campus Life
PES concentrates more on the social well-being of the students. "AATMATRISHA" is the annual techno-cultural fest of PESU. It is conducted in the month of April every year. The University has 2 state of the art Libraries, which has all the books, starting from Engineering books to all the novels. All the classrooms have a Smart TV, along with a dias which enables the teaching in a good way. Good ventilation and comfort is provided for the seating of students. Every year, the students have tournaments in various sports. There are many clubs at PESU, starting from CSR to the Official Racing tech club.
Admission
I took up the college entrance exam, popularly known as the PESSAT exam. It is a 3 hour CBT mode of test, which contains questions from the subjects like physics, chemistry, mathematics, English, and general aptitude. The main eligibility to get into PESU is the student must have scored atleast 70% in 12th, and should have achieved the cutoff score in the PESSAT exam in order to avail the seat. The application for this exam is released in the month of January of every year. The students can register to the exam and start preparing for the same. The slot booking for the exams commences in the month of May approximately after which the exams start. Once done with the exams, the results are announced within 2 weeks of the exam. After the announcement of results, the counselling sessions are arranged in order to make the admission process smooth. The process of admission in PESU is one of its kind.
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
Mainly, SRMIST was a college in Chennai. I'm based out of bangalore and I was not ready to leave my city. The other thing was, I got a better college(PESU) based on my score. Hence I didn't opt for SRMIST
