Course Curriculum Overview
I am in the 2nd year of b.com hons. programme and it has six semesters that cover topics including accounting, business, marketing, human resource management, income tax and audit. I joined the course as I have a great interest in business and marketing. The course material is created to offer a broad variety of knowledge in several disciplines including Finance and Economics. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:24. Highly qualified professors with PhD or Master's degrees make up the faculty. Her teaching techniques range from blackboard to laptops. Exams are given twice a year, semester by semester and are of moderate complexity. Students are not always industry-ready after doing the degree but it does prepare them for specialising in their chosen subject. Overall, the b.com. Hons. programme offers a strong learning environment with a focus on theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as ample opportunities for students to clear their doubts with professors.
Fees and Financial Aid
I think that SRCC's loan and scholarship policies are great. There have not been any big fee increases in the last few years and the pricing structure is quite fair. Here students can also apply for many scholarships depending on their merit and financial needs. The financial support is really beneficial. The fee hike policy is moderate as the government has launched fee waiver schemes for economically weaker sections. The college also offers many internship policies, with a monthly stipend of around 30,000 rupees. Overall, I believe that the college's loan and scholarship policies are pretty commendable and help students from all backgrounds in continuing their education.
Campus Life
The Shri Ram College of Commerce has a stunning campus. The fact that there is AC in every classroom is the best feature of our college, while one flaw is that the size of the campus is a bit small. There are around 25-30 societies and clubs in which students can participate. It has a very beautiful auditorium that was recently constructed and has a huge capacity. The sports complex has a luxurious swimming pool, indoor basketball court, badminton court, gym and a big ground. Our cultural fest is Crossroads which is one of the largest in DU and includes star nights, dancing, music art and many more things and happens in March or April. There are ample books and journals available in the library. All classrooms are well furnished. The staff and teachers are all very helpful. It is secure and equipped to manage emergencies because it is situated on the DU campus.
Admission
Earlier in my time, admission was based on the cutoff given by the college on the basis of class 12 percentage but now cutoffs are provided on the basis of the CUET exam. I took the reservation benefit of the PWD category. For Pwd the cutoff was 83 percentile. To take admission to SRCC you have to register for CUET and need a minimum of 99.5 percentile and above. The application form is available on the Delhi University website and the dates are listed after the results.
