Remarks

IIT Delhi is among the best engineering college you can get in India and here you will certainly get lots of exposure. Here you can explore many new fields in academics, sports and extra-curricular activity.

Entrance Preview

Took IIT JEE Advanced. Scored 175/360 and secured 4469 rank and took Mathematics and Computing. I have inclination towards maths since my childhood. It tried getting CS in Old IIT's but was not able to get. This was very similiar to cs

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Mathematics and Computing: It is the amalgamation of CS and Mathematics. You will get to learn few but important CS course like Data Structure, Analysis and Design of Algorithm, Graph Theory, Operating System, Graph Theory. Each course are taught in depth. Mathematics contains algebra section, Statistics, Probability. Statistics and Probability courses are in demand.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, We do get internship offers from different sectors. Almost 80% students end up taking summer intern. Internship are offered mainly in IT firm. Stipend range from 10k to 2lakhs per month. On an average, stipend is around 25k/month.

Placement Experience

4.5

Almost all students in CS, Electrical and Mathematics and Computing students get placed in December. This is mainly because of IT firm, Banks and Start-up. On an average they give 10lakhs + bonus package. However there is also opportunity of landing a job in US, Japan and Singapore. Highest package in India is 40 lakhs by WorldQuant and Tower.

College Events

5

Rendezvous, Cultural fest of IIT Delhi is the largest fest in North India. It is organised in mid October and lasts for 4 days and various artist (Farhan Akhtar, Vishal- Shekhar, Hoobastank had performed in past) and cultural activity are organised (aorund 35 college group dance, 50 Street Play) . Tryst, technical fest of IIT Delhi is organised in late February. Several Workshop and Department quiz took place

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is bit expensive. Semester tuition fee is around 1 lakhs and hostel is around 20k. This total gives you 2.4lakhs per year. However for SC and ST tuition fee is waived and they had to pay around 10-15 k. Fees are high due to the facility provided in the laboratory, infrastructure.

Fees and Financial Aid

Education loans are easily available as you are in premiere institution. Full tuition fee waver + 1000 per month are provided to those students whose family income is less than 5 lakh. Around half of students get this scholarship. There is no limit to number of students to be granted scholarship

Campus Life

5

Campus life is awesome. But there is a cost while coming to IIT which is low female ratio(1 female in 10 male). Year long cultural activity took place. We have drama, dance, music, fine arts, debate, literature, photography, economics, robotics, etc clubs in campus which actively organises workshop and competition. College also have hockey, football, athletics, cricket, basketball, lawn tennis, snooker, squash, table tennis, volleyball, badminton and swimming pool. Again you free to come and play any sports, any time. All clubs and sports have teams and they also participate at other college competition.

Hostel Facilities

4

You will be given triple or double sharing room which depends on the hostel allotted to you. The size of room is such that apart from bed and a small table, you cannot move anything else. We have been provided with lan facility which works from 6am -1 am. You are given weekly quota of 10 GB and you cannot use torrent. Hostel also provide geysers for winter and a fully automatic washing machine. There is common TV room and reading room with AC. Quality of mess food is fine but taste is poor. They have tendency to put carrots in every dish. At dinner, you will be given some sweet dish which is great. Each hostel have a garden, badminton court and half basket ball court

Alumni/Alumna

College has a wonderful alumni network. ALUMNI AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES (AAIP) is the body which controls it. every semester there is atleast 1 event organised by AAIP for alumni. Alumni also come to give talk on their respective field. Most of the time during campus placement or internship, alumni present at that company shares his experience which is very helpful while selecting company.

Exam Structure

Semester is divided in 3 exams. 2 Minors and 1 Major. Minors are completed in 4 days and Major takes 7 days. On an average, students take 6-7 course each semester which sometimes turns into 3 exams on a single day which turns into very hectic day. There are no laboratory course in my branch. Papers are tough and you have to study outside text book for securing good marks

Admission

Took IIT JEE Advanced. Scored 175/360 and secured 4469 rank and took Mathematics and Computing. For getting admission in IIT, you have to first secure under 1.5 lakhs rank in JEE Mains. Then you qualify for JEE Advanced. IIT rank depends only on JEE Advanced but in order to give Advanced, you have to clear Mains. I have inclination towards math since my childhood. It tried getting CS in Old IIT's but was not able to get. This was very similar to cs

Faculty

3.5

Faculty in our department certainly have good knowledge about the course but they lack in teaching skills. We have a shortage of professors in our department and certain branch are kept untouched. Most professors took course just for the sake of taking course. Teaching methods are dull and courses are planned in dull way.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course curriculum at DTU is quite relevant and comprehensive. The reason I chose this course was the mix of strong fundamentals in the first year—like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Programming—followed by department-specific core and elective courses that allow some flexibility and specialization. The curriculum gives a solid foundation for both real-world applications and further studies, especially through hands-on projects and lab work. That said, some areas could be improved, like including more industry exposure, internships, and practical case studies to bridge theory and real-world problems. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-terms and end-terms) and include assignments and projects as part of evaluation. While most exams are manageable if you keep up with the coursework, a few subjects can be challenging, and preparation is key to avoid surprises.

Placement Experience:

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive, with practical modules and industry-focused content that influenced my choice. It effectively bridges academic knowledge with real-world applications. However, adding more case studies and interdisciplinary approaches could enhance learning. Exams are well-timed but could better assess critical thinking. Teaching methods would benefit from integrating more interactive and hands-on sessions.
