Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course due to my interest in Computer Science and want to pursue a career in the same. Since IGDTUW is a girls' college, the student sex ratio is 100% girls. Every class has almost 80 students. So it's 1 teacher per 80 students. Every faculty are either a doctorate or are PhD students who are under the faculty. The teaching methods are very easy. We are usually provided with book names and ppt for the content taught in the class that day, making it easier for us to study. There are two exams every semester: Mid-Semester examinations and End-Semester Examinations. The exams are timely every semester and if you study for almost 10 days before the exam, the level of difficulty won't be high for you. The exams are mainly based on an understanding level so it is important to understand the concepts rather than learn them.
Placement Experience
The placements are the best part of this college. Students easily get on-campus placements. The students are eligible to sit for placements from the 7th semester. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Uber, NXP Semiconductors, LNT Constructions, etc visit our college for on-campus placements and around 1000 offers are made every year. Each year the number of offers only increases. The highest package goes around 1.2 Crore whereas the average package is around 28 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the college are around Rs 120000. There has been no fee hike in the last 2-3 years. There are various economical aid scholarships provided by the college for students who are meritorious but don't have the facilities to submit the fees. Those are only accessible to EWS students. The internship and placement rate is 90%.
Campus Life
There are 4 main fests organized by the college, the Diwali fest: Jhilmil (organised during Diwali break), the tech fest: Innerve (organized during August), the sports fest: Ignite (organised around February) and the cultural fest (organised during April). Apart from these, there is a number of activities organised by societies and clubs during the scholastic year for college students. A few of the societies are hypnotics, rahnuma, soch, IEEE, ACM, Etc. The classroom has the availability of smart classes and labs are fully equipped with working computers. Although you can bring your laptops according to your convenience. All the books and journals required for the scholastic years can be found in the library. You can also issue the e-books from Library. With the college Id, we have access to all the IEEE research papers. Our sports society is the most active. Along with that the college also pushes forward dance and other cultural societies. We win many competitions.
Admission
Students who appeared for JEE MAINS and cleared it were eligible for this course. The cut-off was nearly 98 percentile for Computer Science and Engineering for the General Category in JEE MAINS and a minimum of 60% aggregate on CBSE. The application form was available on the site of JAAC and the application fee was the same as the JAAC fees which change accordingly every year. The only improvement I could suggest was faster results declaration. JAAC took almost 1-2 weeks to declare the cut-off of various colleges and whether we are eligible to clear the cut-off or not.
