Likes

Flexibility with attendance and encouragement of extra curriculars
Delhi University tag and ID card gets you entry to many different college fests
Metro connectivity is good as it's near Welcome metro station (Red line). Quite close to North campus as well

Dislikes

Administration. The administration is not helpful towards the students.
Auditorium. There is no proper auditorium to host masses
Overall crowd. Students here are not very competitive and lack the drive to achieve greatness

Course Curriculum Overview

The course i.e. Bcom Hons is a standard course for all things commerce and some generic electives to go with it like economics, mathematics etc. Students interested in pursuing Chartered accountancy and MBA in future normally opt for this course. The curriculum and syllabus is not very tough and can be easily managed with extra curriculars in the college. The faculty members and college administration is flexible with us participating in various other activities and enjoying our college life to the fullest.

Internships Opportunities

The internship opportunities offered are quite limited. Barely 5-6 companies offer proper internships and placements and that too with low or no compensation. This factor needs to be worked on. The stipends and packages need improvement as well.

Placement Experience

Campus placements and internships are normally alerted through different WhatsApp groups for the third year students. We have an annual job and internship fair that is organised every year called Compito. Companies from different sectors come to the college and offer placements for third year students

Fees and Financial Aid

Our fees for this session (2022-23) is ?20,000. Although, it increased a bit from last 2 years (16,000 and 16,500), it is still alright according to DU standards and affordable for a majority of students.

Campus Life

Campus is full of different student clubs and societies. They include an array of activities from academic endeavours like Debating, Gandhi study circle, ambedkar study circle etc to performing arts like Dramatics, street play, dance and music. The sports facilities are good and our sports team is a very accomplished name in the sports circuit.

Admission

I took my admission during the first year of COVID-19, hence it was completely online. We registered and applied completely through the DU website. The selection of colleges and payment of college fees was made through that too.

Yes our college provides placements to the student and the students who are in their final semester(6 semester) are eligible for the placement. The companies which comes to college are Kpmg, dillote, Ey, bain and company etc. The average package is around 9 lakh and the highest package is 36.5 lakh.

Students of 3rd semester become eligible for campus placements. Companies like pwc, EY, deloitte has visited our campus and offered packages according to the competency of student. 35-40% people do get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to move abroad and pursue ACCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is really relevant and comprehensive. For eg in bcom we study business law, company law, Human Resources management, marketing, financial and corporate accounting, finance, busines maths, stats, income tax, cost accounting, economics as ge so all these are really great well structureda and do have real life practical applications therefore i think my course is really very well aligned and comprehensive in terms of the business world.

Placement Experience:

The placements of hansraj college are the most talked about thing. Almost 80% students get placed each year with average package being 7-8 lpa and highest going upto 25lpa, which easily beats all undergraduate colleges of india. Students can sit for placements from 3rd year onwards. We have companies like mckinsey, deshaw etc.

My Shyam Lal College POV Memories

I choose this college because this college is most nearest Delhi University college from my home. I got this college because of my CUET marks and the preference list I made in CSAS portal. Cut off for my colleagues is not very high therefore students who want to get a good college and not expecting to get the north campus college prefer my college and the same reason I chose this college. Mostly bachelor of arts and Bachelor of commerce students prefer this college and only few students choose bachelor of science course provided by my college. I think roll colleges for the part it's pieces very high has compared to North campus colleges over the same course for example fees or my course in this college is 30000 while in North campus college it is around 17000 for first year students...Read More
