Remarks
I got admission on the basis of my JEE-Main percentile, I scored a 93.4 percentile. The admission procedure takes place on the website of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, it is quite simple followed by counseling rounds and the forms are available shortly after the JEE-Mains result and the application fee is a nominal amount of Rs 1.5K. The admission process was really fluid and everything processed quite smoothly for me, one thing I would like is to get more communication from the University regarding admission procedures.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BE in Computer Engineering at Thapar University because I always saw myself as a software engineer and have worked on some projects while was in school, the faculties are helpful and for every lecturer 35 students are there. The faculties here are great some of them have done their research works for 13-15 years and are Alumni of prestigious institutes like IITs, IIITs, NITs, etc, they have an approachable method tutorial that really helps students and gets more attention there. We had Mid Semester Tests and End Semester Tests & lab evaluations and sessionals they all held good weightage in our CGPA and it is a bit hard to get good grades as the marks are relative.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies offer internships here at Goldman Sachs, Jaypee Morgan, Oracle, BCG, and many more like them the stipend may vary from 1k to 1.5lac depending on the student's caliber and work experience and knowledge in terms of their branch.
Placement Experience
Many students get placement even in the third year but mostly get placed by the end of the 4th year all MNCs visit Thapar I have no such idea as I got into 2nd year myself but mostly about 70% of students get a decent placement and the average package is 11 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of Thapar are really high only some can afford it, as it's a big gamble of 25 Lac, for the entire degree, the Financial aids provided by the institute were with SBI student loans which could be availed by the students. There are also scholarships for students getting a CGPA above 9.5 every semester and you can save up to 1.15 Lac.
Campus Life
The biggest annual fest we have is Saturnalia - Techno cultural fest usually happens around November. Thapar has the biggest library with a fancy infrastructure and has all the coursebooks and reference books available for the student's needs. The classrooms are fine the teachers use Projectors, Edu Pen, and presentations to teach the classrooms are fully air-conditioned. We have 5 Basketball Courts,1 indoor badminton court, several outdoor badminton court,s and a well-maintained football field encircled by an Athletic Track. We have many societies some are tech some are cultural Thapar has room for students with all kinds of interests.
