Remarks
College as I remember was perfect. Could have had better facilities for hostel and some new faculty teachers were average. Other than that it was the perfect launching pad
Entrance Preview
12th standard marks. SPIT(then SPCE) was he no. 2 college in Mumbai and close to home. My choice was either CS or electronics. So I took whatever I got in SPCE
Course Curriculum Overview
Those days less research more rote. I had the good fortune of being an assistant lecturer in 2010. I was impressed to see a lot of positive changes towards more research. But we could definitely have more research based assignments and also the assessments should encourage independent research
Internships Opportunities
During my college days I do not remember any internship opportunities. We did have a project in the final semester which we could do in an external company.
Placement Experience
Very good campus placements. More of is got placed in good companies. I myself for placed in Tata Power R&D labs and it was my best job to date In terms of learning and work quality it was excellent. And it wouldn't have been so if not for my college
College Events
Biggest was SPACE. Very fun and bigger and better every year. Then an intra-college festival. Between faculties. And a technical festival. The most exciting was SPACE. It had a great mix of cultural, literary and physical activities.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Used to be INR 4000 for free seat. INR 32000 for payment seat. Very reasonable I feel for the quality of education. Now I have heard there is no payment option only 1 type of seat. There used to be a reservation quota which was unfair I felt. Many deserving students did not get and those who got may not have been the best candidate
Fees and Financial Aid
No idea. Not that I remember. It would have been nice to have since there were many students who were really good and could have used the scholarship opportunities
Campus Life
On 70 students around 30 girls in electronics and computers. So a good ratio. Mechanical and civil had the least or almost no girls. College was very inclusive of girls and had a good mix of all status, classes, and religions. We always felt like one big family.
Alumni/Alumna
Not a very active alumni but the college is going leaps and bounds. Was very impressed with the progress the college has made. The principal Mrs. Prachi is doing a fantastic job
Exam Structure
Chilled out. In general some subjects were taught very well and mid terms were taken seriously. But some subjects were very average so the preparation for those would be done only during the study leave in the last 15 days. But all in all it was enough I felt
Admission
There was a centralised form. You write in your choice of 3 colleges. And field. Free seat or payment seat. Based on HSC marks we got a rank. Based on your rank you are called on a particular day and time to a center where live updates on seats left in colleges are shown. On your rank being called you have to make an instant decision on college and make instant payment
Faculty
Very qualified senior faculty. Junior faculty was average. The older lecturers were in the profession to impart knowledge. Newer ones did not necessarily know how to handle students, neither had the passion obviously as the senior faculty. Our batch was the second batch and I realised ad the years went by the faculty news getting better
