Course Curriculum Overview

3

The reason why I'd say the curriculum is more relevant is because with increasing years the way to execute code in different environments gets bit more or a lot more complicated. This helps us in real life applications in companies for our future. They could show a bit more practical approach and not small codes like hello world in cloud computing and docker on other operating systems. They exam times are pretty standard for IT engineering.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees vary from ?1,20,000 to 1,50,000 depending on year and can also be paid by emi. There are two categories for admission one is CAP round which is standard approval and eligibility and the other is thru management which you have to pay ?5,00,00+ as collateral if you didn't pass the cap round. There is also a gym fee but they never take into factor the time taken by students coming from beyond Vasai-Virar hence most students who come are not able to take part in extracurricular activities due to travel planning to and from their residence as the extracurricular activities like the gym and sports equipment are only available after 3.00 pm. Only one scholarship is valuable it is called Chatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj something and we are not eligible for it when we don't pay full fees which was not an issue before. Labs are pretty mid same goes for canteen and stationary who are always looking for ways to capitalise on the students misery by increasing prices.

Campus Life

4

Mosaic, TEDxSFIT, and other occassion or festival based events and freshers party along with DJ nights are prominent. The library is top tier but almost nobody takes advantage and hence during examination it is jam packed. The computer systems are i5 8th gen Intel processor which is minimum requirement in labwork also every class has a projecter and PC. Sports heads a take part in extracurricular activity organising. Every committee has a social media account for advertisement.

Admission

I entered thru cap round which plays a significant role in course eligibility in prestigious colleges , this college was recommended to me by a long stream of family members and it has lived upto a part of its reputation. I didn't get rejected but SFIT my 3rd most important college as I had to check for other better colleges which i knew i couldn't get in as part of a strategy. Eligibility depends on aspects like college minority and minority eligibility in this case Catholic or Christian need to have 65 plus in percentile of CET . The others who are eligible required a 95 plus percentile for minority eligibility.

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio is currently1:10. Most of the faculty is good like maybe 70%(generous) the remaining seem to be not at all interested in teaching even if they know to teach. Though the same applies for the approachability. The best faculty are the new ones like Dr. Prachi Raut and Praveen sir who are both equally jolly and cool. I cannot name the faculty i dislike as I don't know if this review will show my name or not ( Sorry). For the first two years the exam pattern was two mid semester exams one mock and one end semester practical exam and finally one end semester exam. Now they have only kept one mid semester exam which is way better. The average number of students who fail the semester or year is currently minimum at 2 or 3 students as far as I know. I don't know what it proves but maybe it shows the inability of certain students to work in a field they can't excel at when they are not interested in the first place. Which is totally plausible

Night Life

3

The gym and other sports equipment are only available after 3 pm which makes it hard for students who travel hours to get to college to have fun. The hostel at first was only for girls and boys had to literally book apartments. Hangout places are benches in the garden, the canteen and The Quadrangle. The locality does not look particularly safe due to medium isolation from populated area at the back gate where most of the commute is done by everyone.

Almost 95% students are placed. I'm preparing for GATE ME for higher studies

If one wants direct placements in comapnies such as Wipro, Cognizant, Hexaware, TCS and many more, SIT is the place. Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus. Practical v/s theoretical balance: Labs, workshops and real world projects are a core part of the structure, especially in engineering, design, and science programs. CIA like case studies, presentations, and assignments encourage hands on learning. However, in some programs, there is a still heavier focus on the theory, so students must actively seek extra learning resources
