DBIT- An underrated gem amongst Mumbai Colleges!

Placement scenario in campus, highest and average package being offered

Placements of the college are average to above average. While many students do get placed, it is mostly in the 4-6 LPA range, with a few lucky ones getting upto 8,10,15 or even 20 LPA. Most major companies do come for on campus placements, and almost 60-70 percent students get placed in companies.

Paid internship opportunity in various organization

Godrej, Jacobs, L&T are some of the companies off the top of my head that offer internships with decent stipend upto Rs.5-6k for a couple of months of internships, with various technical and non technical skills being taught during the period of the internships

Events organized, and clubs available in the campus

Overall campus life is excellent, with DBIT sharing the same campus as the BMS, BMM, Hospitality and ITI students as well (albeit in different buildings) Hysteria is the cultural fest of DBC (including all these departments), while Colosseum is the technical fest of DBIT (only the four engineering departments). Many clubs and chapters like ACM, CSI, Madgears, LitSoc, IETE, IEEE, Music Club, Drama Club, Marathi Club, SIE Club, Domain Maths Club, etc make it a very chic and happening college

Fees and scholarship available and eligibility

Every year over four years, one has to pay in the range of 1,28,000-1,36,000 as college fees. I think that in the current situation it is pretty reasonable and DBIT is a pretty good college considering the fees that they charge and the amenities and quality of education that we recieve. The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, and also the Minority Scholarship scheme is available for students to use. Also, DBIT collaborates with L&T for the CrEAST project, which is a CSR initiative that teaches underprivileged children special skills for the future. They also provide internships for the same. Also, students are given internships under teachers as well for various projects.

Students view on course curriculum

DBIT follows the Mumbai University C-Scheme Revised 2019 curriculum, with their being two Internal assessments(IAs) and one end-semester exam within a single semester. For IAs, question banks are usually provided as teaching resources as well. Notably, IA-1 is usually easier to score as it is based upon less syllabus, while IA-2 has more syllabus. The MU curriculum itself is pretty outdated in my opinion and they need to update it with the perspective of providing a Computer Engineering student with a better set of subjects and a better timeline. Some teachers have work to do in terms of effort and engaging lectures, but most of them are pretty good at what they do.

Students view on faculties

The teachers in the Computer Engineering department, with a couple of exceptions, are pretty good at teaching and will definitely help you with whatever problems you may have. Their teaching models are above average and varying, with some passionately teaching while some just reading off the PPT slides. Notes are provided on Moodle but they sometimes are inadequate. The mentorship for mini and major projects is good, with constant follow-ups. Attendance tends to be not much of a problem with them considering valid reasons well.

How to get admission in the college and what sets the college stand out ?

The admission process was through the CAP process after the MHTCET exam, while a limited number of seats are given through JEE MAIN scores as well. Institute-level seats are also available, as well Direct Second Year(DSE) student quotas as well

Yes, DBIT Mumbai offers a B.E. course under 4 specializations. Candidates should have qualified 10+2 to be eligible for admission to B.E. The admission is done on the basis of score in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main and Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET). Candidates can register for the JEE counseling procedure after the declaration of the result. At the PG level, the institute offers an MMS under five specializations. Admission to the program will be granted on the basis of a Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET followed by counseling. The MHT-CET Counselling will be organized in online mode. To be eligible for admission to the MMS program, the candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
