Remarks

College management was very good. They maintained a good balance of strictness and friendliness. We got very good atmosphere which helped us in growing and becoming a good student.

Entrance Preview

I got admission in this college on the basis of my marks in 12th standard. Being from science background I was never interested in science and wanted to go for something easy and anything in which I will find my Interest. Secondly the crowd is the best in karnal. Finally I opted for BA English Honour's

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I enrolled myself for BA English Honour's. As the college is accredited with Kurukshetra university they don't have any control over the curriculum as the curriculum is designed by Kurukshetra university. Since honors were introduced the curriculum is same. But as it is all about literature it is very interesting and not like other subjects where u have to mug up things. You have to understand and write in your language. You get the freedom to writing in this course and it helps u enhancing your vocabulary as well.

Internships Opportunities

No, college doesn't provide any Internship and till I was there I have never seen any company coming in for hiring. I have seen in BSC IT department but not in Honour's, BA and Commerce. I heard of it that company came for an interview in BSC IT but I am literally not aware of the company type, salary offered.

Placement Experience

2

As I mentioned that in my knowledge I haven't seen any company apart from the one incident where I heard that one company came but they were only interested in BSC IT folks. Though we have placement cell which never get to use as I got placed of my own just after two days of my final exam.

College Events

4

College means life full events. Every festival used to get celebrated in my college. We used to have cultural events, tech seminars, NCC events and if I am not wrong there used to b science fairs as well. We have many declamations, essay writing contests, poster making, talent hunts and much more.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very feasible and very light on pockets. I used to pay my fees by doing small chores. Every six month you have to pay fees. It is an advance fee system where you will pay fees until July in January and then in August until December. Fees we have to deposit in banks directly.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, as the fees are very reasonable so I don't think any would require loan facility but scholarship were there which were awarded by college and university to the students who will score good both in academic and extracurricular activities

Campus Life

4

Girls ratio vs boys was more. College's main focus was to give more admission to girls and to have good boys student so that the environment of college is maintained. We have students of all religions and we all used to be as a family. Political effect was very less in the college and about type of nuisance was not tolerated.

Hostel Facilities

3

There was no hostel in my college. Canteen was there but with basic snack items. I will admit samosa was best there. There is separate canteen for boys and girls. College also have one separate area for girls where they can sit, talk and study. Boys are not allowed to go there. Outsiders are also not allowed in college.

Alumni/Alumna

I am not sure whether we had any alumni as we never got introduced to any. We were only getting help through teachers or we used to figure out solutions of our own. Few senior used to come and meet but with their own purposes. When we became senior we used to help the junior as it was hard to get the books and notes of the course

Exam Structure

Exam structure is as per Kurukshetra university norms. At my time it was every year we will have final exams and we have to clear it to get through to the other class. So we used to give mid term exams and then exams before final exams and then final exams. But the structure has been changed to semester system where u can carry your back papers and can clear at your own pace.

Admission

On the basis of my marks in 12th. You have to apply for admission by buying their admission brochure and college will decide the cutoffs. It takes 15 to 20 days for admission results. Once the result is out you can find out the result at notice board in college and if your name is not there in the first list, don't feel sad there will be another list as well.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty were amazing leaving the less experienced ones.HOD of the department was amazing and she used to cheer up always and was supportive aswell. Faculties in Dyal Singh college are with a mission and that to impart knowledge in a better and effective way. They use to strict and friendly as per the demand of time. Which makes a teacher n student relation very strong. That's why students used to their teachers

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The curriculum was overall good and being a economics honours courses it was challenging at times. The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
